  1. Use this to easily find rez zones, and also to avoid many pitfalls: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Explorers-HUD-Ban-Line-HUD-Essential-for-all-Vehicles-Explorers-Boats-Planes-and-Landlords/1269113
  2. Lifechurch.tv In world they are Experience Island. The setup is a pretty close reproduction of the RL church campus (which I happen to live near). It is probably the best nondenominational church you will find. They focus on life, not on how you will be going to hell if you sin (even really bad sins, like trying to run a business in SL) :matte-motes-wink:.
  3. I have one that has been in that state since July also. On one hand, I don't care because the enhancement is in effect but I am not being charged for it. I do know, however, that LL might someday, without warning, charge me for all the months (or even years) that I have not been getting charged for. Unfortunately, taking years to fix a bug and getting the run around in the meantime is just the way LL works.
  4. The more technical answer is anyone who pays $5000 USD or more per month in tier qualifies to become an Atlas member.
  5. If upper management gets wind of this and can find out who is doing it, I am pretty certain a Skype call would follow... Translation: I believe upper management would love to get rid of the current crop of "residents", so that they can be replaced with "players". That means whoever is doing this will be fired if caught. Exception: Upper management knows they need the Atlas members to keep them afloat until the transition to a gaming platform is complete. I would bet only Atlas members are seeing these credits, and as is usual with LL's logic, it is inconsequential since L$2000 is smaller than a drop in the ocean.

I suppose that's a virtue of these forums, and of having a few of us "spies" to smuggle information in and out of the jira, but I'm not required to be happy about it.) This is exactly why no one should count on SL for any type of business income, especially if you are a scripter. Now, in addition to the closed JIRA, the release notes are pretty worthless. If they don't inform players (that is the first time I have ever used that word when referring to what used to be a resident) of the changes to the platform, then it is a crap shoot every time you script something. I can't think of a more telling example of how SL has gone from a virtual world that at least tried to encourage businesses to a very unprofessional gaming only platform. Soon, I expect there to still be notices of the rolling restarts posted, but there will be no such thing as release notes at all. FYI: The bug causing the diagonal sim visibility problem is (was) fixed in the latest code that got deployed then rolled back. I consider that one of SL's worst bugs, but try finding in the release notes any information that it was fixed. Pathetic.
  8. You are not going to leave this code live are you? With this bug I can't tell who bought what, so my bookkeeping duties have doubled. Since it normally takes months for a bug to work its way through and out of the system (weeks if it is really on the fast track) I am looking at a lot of extra work. And that must be just the tip of the iceberg. There must be 100's of automated processes that are now broken for a lot of different residents.
  9. Since the restart of Bay City - Falconmoon (Magnum), offline IM's that are emailed to me from in world objects are blank. In the following sample, all the blank areas *should* have contained the text that the object IM'ed to my av: The object 'Falconmoon' has sent you a message from Second Life: = Falconmoon is owned by Triple Peccable = http://slurl.com/secondlife/Bay%20City%20-%20Falconmoon/32/9/34 The object 'Falconmoon' has sent you a message from Second Life: = Falconmoon is owned by Triple Peccable = http://slurl.com/secondlife/Bay%20City%20-%20Falconmoon/32/9/34 The object 'Falconmoon' has sent you a message from Second Life: = Falconmoon is owned by Triple Peccable = http://slurl.com/secondlife/Bay%20City%20-%20Falconmoon/32/9/34

This thread seems to indicate that LL does not care at all about the amount of tier someone is paying (unless you're an Atlas member). It makes perfect sense to me, because I believe LL has given up on SL in its current form. This type of situation is a perfect example of why: Virtual worlds are just too much trouble. I think the current path is one of moving away from the "virtual world / resident" model to more of a "game platform / player" model. The word "resident" implies things like rights, disputes, governance, rule enforcement, etc. LL no longer has the manpower to deal with such things. If I am right about LL making a decision to move in that direction, then issues like this one will be totally ignored. The only "players" who matter at this point are the Atlas members (those paying $5000USD/month in tier or more). As long as LL can keep them happy enough to prevent them from pulling out, then they *might* be able to survive during this transition to a game platform. But SL has never been a game to me. I am not interested in games. LL would have to continue to provide a true virtual world in order to get me to stick around, but I have lost all faith in LL to do so. Most of the personnel that are left at LL just don't "get it". They came along after the brilliant minds that created and designed SL left or got fired, and do not have a good understanding of the real virtues of a virtual world. And with Rodvik at the helm it's games all the way, baby!
  11. Phil Deakins wrote: Apart from that, disliking LL a helluva lot is no reason for anyone to stop enjoying SL itself. Wow, I wish I had an attitude like that. My problems with LL have left such a bad taste in my mouth that when I do log in (only when needed for customer support) I look around, and the first thing that strikes me is how all the goodness and wonderment is gone. I log back out as soon as I can.
  12. Ha! This guy has now moved his club to a small 1344m parcel in Bay City! It will be very interesting, to me if no one else, to see if LL tolerates him destroying a sim in Bay City the way he destroyed Dobinson. I, on the other hand, have reduced my monthly tier from $292.50/month to $8/month. That is what I call voting with your wallet. I have basically left SL. Development has stopped completely, and the only reason I still log in at all is for customer support when needed. That is what I call voting with your feet. Good luck, LL.
  13. Well, LL got what it appears it wanted. I have sold most of my land, stopped most of my advertising, and have only 1 small shop left, dubbed "The Remnants of Triple Labs". So my tier and advertising is down from $250 to $350USD/month (where it has been for almost 5 years) to $25 USD/month, and I might even just pull out all together. Way to go, LL.
  14. Yes, it does show the server channel of the surrounding sims. It also displays where the rez zones are (to answer the reply earlier about someone wanting to make a folder of rez zone landmarks - there really is no need for that).
  15. You need one of these: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Explorers-HUD-Ban-Line-HUD-Essential-for-all-Vehicles-Explorers-Boats-Planes-and-Landlords/1269113
  16. Yes, thanks Qual. I guess I don't know how to communicate.
  17. Rather than relying on terminology, I would rather have katya perform these exact steps: Open the "About Land" window and tell me what screen shows as the parcel's "Owner". Please ignore the group below, all I want to know is what it shows for owner. If the owner shows your name, the land is not deeded. If the owner shows your group name, then the land is deeded. Now right click the orb and choose Edit. Let me know what it shows for "Owner" (again, ignore the group field below the owner). If the owner shows your name, the orb is not deeded. If the owner shows the group name, then the orb is deeded. With that information, a determination can be made as to whether or not that is the problem without having to rely on terminology. But it is still the same bottom line: The owner of the land and the owner of the orb must match *exactly* in order to achieve reliable ejections and TP's home.
  18. The problem is, Qwalyphi, is that word "deeding". It has become clear that the OP does not clearly understand what that word means, which is very common. After 5 years of customer support, I have found that very often someone says "I tried this and I tried that", but unless you witness it yourself first hand you can not count on that information being reliable. Otherwise you would be led on wild goose chases most of the time while troubleshooting. In a case like this in-world, I would have the customer TP me. And even though they *said* everything was deeded, 100% of the time I would find that either the land or the orb(s) were not deeded.
  19. Orca, Properly installed orbs are MUCH better than ban lines, 100% of the time. The key is they need to be professional quality, not something someone hacked together last light in their den, and they have to be properly installed. If everyone who now uses ban lines did this, the world would be a much better place for all of us.
  20. You found your problem. If your group owns the land, the orbs MUST be group owned (deeded) also. You must have ignored all the warnings the orbs gave you about that, each and every time you activated them. The reason it works initially is because of a "convenience" that LL built in. When you first rez an orb, the orb is there and you are there. What that means is that at that moment, the sim *knows* the orb has rights, and it tries to be nice by ejecting (or TP'ing home) avatars obediently. But after you leave, the sim forgets that, and since the orb and the land are not owned by the same person (or group, in this case) it can no longer eject (or TP home). That has always been a source of confusion for customers for the 5 years I've been in business. Bottom line: The orb and the land MUST be owned by the same person or group, or it will never reliably eject or TP home avatars. ETA: After re-reading your post, you said your land and the orbs are "owned by the same group, so deeding isn't necessary". That is a contradiction. It is the process of deeding that makes the orbs become owned by the group. I think if you look at the orbs, you will find they are *owned* by yourself, and they are *set* to your land group. That is not good enough. You have to deed them, and afterwards you will notice you are no longer listed as the owner, the group is now the owner.
  21. I can assure you, katya, that the GWS has no problems ejecting either. By far the most likely cause is using the orbs on group owned land, but not having deeded the orbs (or vice versa). However, the system warns you of that, you should always check your local chat and Orb Status Reports for errors. Another common cause is not having the orbs in Eject Unknown (or Group Only access) mode. They default to being set to Allow Unknown. Since there are several different ways to set the orb's mode, the only sure way to check it is to use the Orb Status Report. Anyway, there is no reason to switch back from the hippo secure if you are happy with it and you get your ejection problems fixed. I just wanted to assure it is not bugs in the GWS code causing the problems.
  22. Well, all I can say is that I have servers on my LeTigre region that report to me any time the region is down for more than 60 seconds. I always get messages from the servers when a restart occurs, but today there were no messages. Either there was no restart or it was a very fast one. BTW, on your forum login problems, all I can add is that my symptoms matched yours exactly. I lived with it for a fairly long time, thinking it was the forum software. But once I cleared all my local files and cookies (for a different reason), the forum login problems magically disappeared. I say that just because all the temp files / temp directories / cookies / other garbage that windows (and the browser) collects are likely scattered about and a closer inspection is warranted.
  23. Maestro Linden wrote: and LeTigre is getting a config update which doesn't require a roll. Dang, looks like I bailed out of my LeTigre region for no reason this morning.
  24. I'm not on Firefox, but all my forum login headaches went away when I recently deleted all my browser's temporary internet files AND cookies, and I mean all of them. After that I have not had a single forum login problem.
  25. If you want to look at commercially available options, check out either of these systems. They are popular with large RP groups because they allow you to define specific areas (as many as you need) and then IM as many different people as you need of any intrusions (in addition to many other features).
