Sad too, in the beginning there were people that took pride in not only what they owned, but also in their own avatar, and could see the cause and affect of "free" alts in the game. There once was a time when you could afford only one reputation.
  4. LOL if you're too lazy to translate the advise given here, I doubt you'll do well earning L in game. Its sort of like real life, if you want to make money it takes effort and hard work. The secret equation here is: hard work and effort x100=LINDENSx10
  5. Do you think if even one of us totally understood how SL works, we might suddenly and mysteriously disappear from the grid?
  6. Agreed Lahnius, I hope LL will allow or share this feature with the other viewers used in SL. If not I can foresee it having a limited audience if on the SL viewer only.
  7. My grandmother was one of the most lovely women I've ever known, she had a pen pal for decades, another lovely lady, she'd never met, overseas in England. How this came about was this English lady, was one of the children from London that were sent to the country sides by train to avoid the city bombings during the war. They corresponded by cursive all the rest of their lives. There were times my grandmother had incessant insomnia, and the only thing that seemed to relax her was a fresh page of stationary, a good pen, and her pen pal. Pages of cursive across decades of time, celebrations, sadness, the baring of souls in their darkest hours. Upon her death I found the boxes of letters, neatly kept by year, and when i wrote the pen pal of my grandmothers passing and received the most beautiful letter back. The last sentences summed up their entire experience: "My sadness at your grandmothers parting although selfish, means the days of the post man waiving the envelope with your grandmothers strongly elegant handwriting has come full circle. Once I was alone and frightened in a dark and depressing world, and those envelopes once opened held the sunshine of her life in line after line of curling, daring handwriting that made me strong in ways I never knew possible." So perhaps there is more to cursive than we imagine, it may be part of our character that perhaps would be missed otherwise.
  8. If the griefing message is coming from an object (wood doll on shoulder of avi) you can mute it. Mute by object. If the owner has filed AR reports on this person, LL can remove anyone and all of their alts, and with this type of extortion for $100L group fee sounds like a no brainer. If you have or the sim owner has a premium account, get online or over the phone with concierge services and ask point blank why the AR on this individual has been ignored. Be sure you have proof such as who the person(s) are, and copies of open chat. Objects that speak for others such as puppets if you click on the puppets name in chat, it brings up the owners profile. Good luck, LL never in the past would overlook such nefarious behavior, hopefully they still have some backbone to keep the bullying out of a newb gathering area.
  9. Hey Tig, we were all new to SL once, and believe me being new this day in time has to be a challenge. I've been in SL for almost 9 years now and not a day goes by that I don't learn something new about it. My best advice is to ask questions, either here or from those you meet, and every day the game will become easier. Half the fun of SL is learning new things, so welcome to our world, its an awesome adventure. So have a blast and don't worry if you don't know everything in the first week, no one ever does.

  12. Cassandra, call LL customer service, I've had nothing but great success talking to them. Ask why or what is causing your items to be pulled, and if theres a better way to do the direct delivery. Very nice people there that go out of their way to help.
  13. You could be right Qie, but the actions of the Lindens do not show this, nor bring it to proof. It appears they are more interested in the newer player than the old ones, and gem "hunts" on "special" sims for premium accounts is well..what can i say other than very out of touch. The $L seems to be in decline, business's that used to be hot are long gone, yes replaced by others that will be here until they are botted to death. The game has pretty much gone to sex and breedables, i feel no sense of community any longer. There are bright spots, occasionally you find a cute club where everyone is having fun and chatting, omg chatting ! Then the usual drama ensues, or something they can't get past financially or something outrageous the Linden's refuse to get involved in, and its gone. I will say..if you call LL, customer service personnel have ALWAYS gone out of their way to help me. Maybe they are just giving us a free hand in managing it ourselves, and hoping for the best...
  14. I have watched several of their interviews Ceka, they are good, am going to watch this one too. Do you remember all the flap when Jessica and Blue, and a bunch of others were laid off from LL? I think they lost their most devoted and creative staff during that time. I feel awed that they pulled together for this game and stayed, we are the better for it. Thanks for posting the URL for it !
