With all these prims, I had the benefit of moving them so it was possible to layer better. The downside was that it looked great only as I stood still. Changing a pose lead to new clipping.
And the ease of wearing mesh fitted to a body. All the editing before. It took for ever. The prims and the avatar texture had to be lined up perfectly, and it was in particular hard with flared jeans where the seams should meet on both the inside and the outside of the leg.
You have not heard about Bakes on Mesh, it is a subforum here. It means that your layers, like skin, makeup, tattoos and clothes, all that can now be baked on the mesh avatars surface. And it can be layered, means that we have back all the clothing layers and can wear the prims on the mesh body again and edit them in place. I think there will be few items that stand the test of time!
I think I will use mostly makeuplayers and such layer like hairbase, freckles, tattoos, so I don't have to use the applier layers on top of the body for that. This will also be an end to alpha sorting issues. I will use some leggings, tops under jackets and underwear. I doubt that I will use much prim clothing, maybe some of my darling gowns with flexi prims. It is hard to dance in the long dresses that stretch like rubber.
So keep your clothes, makeup, tattoos, scars and whatever. LL promised us Bakes on Mesh this year, it is only a few weeks left. I hope they make it! Like a gigantic Christmas present for us.

Look for clothes that include multiple sizes. That way, if you change to another body, you have clothes ready to wear for it.

I am not sure if you want to use your old Animation Override. I assume that you had one and know how they work.
If you do, they can "splay" Bento hands in a very unflattering pose. For classic avatars and TMP body, they do nothing, your hands stay in the same non-moving pose.
If you want to invest in a full new AO, or if you had no one, I would actually recommend you to get an AO for Bento. Because it does nothing with your hands until you upgrade to Bento, but IF you upgrade, no extra cost. You will have the same body language, so if you like it, you will not have to hunt down animations for Bento that looks the same.

Vista and Body language sweet lovely cute is expensive.
For the look of Bento hands movements, you can get the hands demo from Vista or Slink and wear them while you demo Animation Overrides. Especially if you buy one that you feel is top in your budget.
I shall not talk about buying single animations and build your own AO, because it is enough info already?

True. For bodies for beach only, there are free or cheap bodies. Thread starter can make a "Beach" folder in outfits.
Such cheap of free bodies is very utiliarian. If you want a medium or tan body and has no special preferencens, you can rock it.
With utilitarian, I mean that they the customization is limited. But a pair of swimming trunks can you always find. The benefit is that you are ready from neck down, no hands or feet to add.
In this case, I recommend Billy Beaverhausens blog. He has many mesh bodies, and he also use cheapies.

Why, since we talk about that TMP can quit SL soon? The thread starter only want a few outfits, so he can outfit a TMP body for a small amount of money, and there is a lot of options for flipflops, sneakers, swimming pants in many styles and also shorts/tshirts made for TMP.
A 500 L body that's not outfitted with a huge wardrobe is a very nice deal and low risk, and really, any SL creator can quit SL and his products stop to work and never get updates. As long as TMP avatars work in SL, they are also customizable. If TMP quit SL, the body or head will stay as it is, and you can't customize it any more.
Seatch TMP in Billys blog and read the posts, so you know what has happened from the time that their bodies was the most expensive in SL.
EDIT: The TMP does not have Bento hands and face. So no moving fingers and facial gestures. But still, 30 built - in skintones and the possibility to use any tattoos, clothes and skins made for TMP?

And it is demo's for basically everything now. If it's not a demo, buyer beware.
Especially on the Marketplace. I do a lot of MP shopping, but there are many that scam you. Having an ad of a wonderful skin for 100-200 L and no demo? Not legit.
You can find lots of clothes on the MP though, it is freebies, promos and cheapies. Especially for the jeans and hoodie guy.
I would focus on hair and clothes, and if you find out that you want better hands and fingers that move, try mesh hands. And it's a demo for all mesh parts.
Heads, the same advice. See if you want a head with expressions, I have "moods" that can be "alluring" "neutal" "happy" "flirty" and many more. Heads is expensive, so don't rush it.
Bodies is basically if you want to be nude.

LL has promised us BoM this year, and since it's December 1 today, they better hurry.
It will solve all your problems, because if it is the designer I think it is, you have tattoo layers too, not just appliers. With BoM, you wear the tattoo layers and all is baked to show on yur mesh avatar, baked so you don't have to use the layers.
I'm waiting for BoM this whole year, since I heard of it.

I do it too, but some of the best mesh house builders has fixed it and have mesh floors to rez upon.
It is not foolproof. A rug can have the bounce issue. Or a shadow from furniture. I agree with Prok, it is annoying as dang it all to heck, if I must log off to get back a no-copy item from Lost and Found. Because this is where the gacha no copy items go, and they don't come back there until a relog. Prok is totally correct here. But new residents don't know this. Or people who are new house owners, who has been hobos in SL before.
It is also annoying to find a small spot on the floor to rez on, between all the rugs. Or I have a table that allow to rez, I must rez there and edit the chair in place.
Plus the wording in the message. Seriously, I understand landlords get confused tenants that panic over their lost rare item... They blame the landlord, of course. The message is not well written.

@Scylla Rhiadrathat was really weird. It has not happened to me, but the closest I can think of is when I got skin demos. When I have the demos in my inventory, I am expecting a hud to show up on the screen where I can click. Instead, when I clicked "add" on the box symbol in my inventory, the skin was applied, but no hud visible. It was really annoying, because the skin had terrible, angry, big, black eyebrows*, I wanted to see if it had a no brows version with the demo.
So obviously objects can interact with our avatars, but to permanently discolor a part? Really scary. The merchant should be told. It is not such a problem as long as we wear copy-able items, but it is annoying and it can't be meant to do that.

Can you see the stickers or "demo" on the skin now? You really should get another resident to look at you, if you can't see "demo" and others can't see "demo", then it was that one single person who has a messed up connection, and the seller has sent you the correct skins.
Have you done this, ( Put the skin on and have someone else look at it (preferably NOT at one of the social islands or "help/welcome centers" that are ripe with idiots), that's the best way to tell. ) as suggested:

I remember your thread where you tried to rez a bed, and you rezzed the wrong bed.
You had to search your inventory for the bed, but it was there. Isn't it possible that just this happened here, that you think the demo skins is all the skins you got, but the skins you paid for is packed and in your object folder?

If I should choose between different ways of receiving goods, I think I prefer that who attach to screen so only I can see it, and where I have to click it to unpack.
I agree that the ones who auto-open can come too quick on me and sometimes collide with another blue window.
I really dislike those who add another step, it comes with the "join my group" and then "do you wish to unpack" before the unpacking itself. Makes my fingers itch to slap someone.

I am willing to bet it's empty boxes. The creators got their pictures stolen and abused in a scam.
It will hurt people who isn't familiar with SL brands. They will buy it.
It's sneaky to do it now, with all the Black Friday sales around.

DeeTaleZ has released 4 Genus skins and that's a creator who is impressive. I bought her skin because of the body options. How about all the add-ons from Izzie Button? (Izzie's) If you want to use Mycha.
I am thinking about three sets, eyebags, pores and wrinkles.Here we will benefit greatly from BoM, when we will add special effects to skin.
(If I count every time I menetion how I want to have BoM now...)
To toot the horn for Izzie's, she is including system tattoo layers, so her packs is ready to be used with BoM. I hold back on buying too much appliers only makeup now, especially to a full price.

Your impressions pretty much mirror mine: the Mycha looks "nicer" generally, but definitely younger. I wish I could figure out why. I wonder if Mycha looks younger because the skin is lighter and looks radiant, while Nataly does not have so much highlights. Nataly is also a shade darker. I struggle to find the correct words, I often find the more blunt ones... so the best I can say is that Natalys skin looks "dull" compared to Mycha. Same as when we mature, our skin can still look great, but missing that glow factor.
What Mycha reminds me of, i how the asian beauty bloggers use techniques to achieve glowing, dewy skin. Nataly also has more defined cheekbones. I think the skintone plus cheekbones is what makes the difference.
Mycha has a very nice mouth. Is it lipstick packs for her? If you will keep Nataly, try a Micha lipstick?

I would not recommend a TMP as a "your avatar for years", but since the OP has a limited budget and he states he does not want a large wardrobe, a TMP body only is not bad. If he see it as "This is for looking good on the beach, and if I upgrade to an expensive body, I can live well with the use I had of it for 500 L".
I would actually say no to a mesh head with this budget. If the OP has a nice Belleza or Ispachi or another skin from as far back as 2012, system skins hasn't changed. They look the same today. If the skin is 2010 or older, yeah, then it's not so good.
The benefit is that he can use his tattoo beards, eyes and hairbases now and don't spend money on it.

You can sort it in "just for guys" as I did, I can't see much difference from "mens". Some of the offers is time limited. I am not sure if the L'Homme gifts for November is still out? You join the group that is free (last I checked) and hit L'Homme stands in the stores.
If you were a lady, you could look fantastic for almost nothing and have a wardrobe large as Melania Trumps in no time. The gift and cheapies market for men is so much smaller, but take what you can. It gives you something to wear while you cling to your money until you find a must-have.
If longer male hair is your thing, the no.match store has many group gifts, the group is cheap to join, maybe 50 L?
Vale Koer has these shoes, all parts are color change, it is a group gift. I was free to join.
