  1. Well to me sl needs more consumers... I reckon consumers will probably want the basics i.e. land and the tools to build...if they get hooked they'll want more land ..I know because thats what happened to me... I want my money spent on better inworld functions and features. Unfortunately Im not in sl to fund education especially not in the USA (as I see it Im paying my bit for the 'good' of my country via vat paid to lindens....) The obvious way to attract more more paying consumers is to drop tiers and ENCOURAGE land sales... more land sold more tiers... Its not - as they say - rocket science
  2. The whole issue of tier pricing needs re examining but I suspect nothing good or worthwhile is going to happen because if it was Philip would have been singing it from the roof tops at his inworld meeting several weeks back. Needless to say the matter of pricing and all matters relating to it never arouse....
  3. With all due respect to the non profit/ education sector - but where are all of you when ordinary sl users bemoan heavy tier pricing....??? we never hear a word from any of your groups then....
  4. No linden is not a non profit organisation...and Im sure just as much people dont pay linden labs out of the kindness of their hearts... Its time there was a massive move for better customer care and value for money in SL
  5. Im reading that announcement again and again very carefully it is talking about private regions - which I assume means 'islands' so what is the plan for ordinary land holders ?? I dont like the fact that theres no apparent mention. I hope there arent plans afoot to increase and if there are we are giving more than a weeks notice as we were with the imposition of v.a.t
  6. What about tier charges for ordinary premium users? There doesnt seem to be any commitment to no increase there, although I think most users are looking to an actual decrease and restructuring of tier charges....
  7. This thread is about as relevant to the ordinary builder in sl as ballet lessons are to a rhinoceros... A mass of smug 'smart asses' arguing for high tech building processes that sl will be totally unable to handle and will be of minimal use to a minimum of sl users Despite Jennifur's intriguing arguments the revelation that quality software costs up to 3500 was staggering... Of course anyone like myself who argued for improvement on what we have and what most if not all builders in sl and not just a select few was almost instantly dismissed by people I can only describe for the most part as obnoxious geeks.. In the meantime as people ask for their super meshed high tech sl, I notice that as of yet Philips improvements about boundary crossing have come to nothing....boundary crossing is as bad as ever, in fact if my experiences were anything to go by during some exploration yesterday they're worse talk about learning to run before you can walk (especially over a sim boundary).... In the meantime the only reason Im back on this forum at all is because lindens cant even make the email notification block operate correctly and I noticed the same old voices still need to take a reality check.. what price complex building systems ??
  8. This thread is about as relevant to the ordinary builder in sl as ballet lessons are to a rhinoceros... a mass of smug smart asses arguing for high tech building processes that sl will be totally unable to handle... despite Jennier's intriguing arguments the revelation that quality software costs up to 3500 was staggering... of course anyone who argued for a system improvement on what we have rather than a ludicrous nass of technical improvements akin to fitting a steam locomotive with an atomic reactor was almost instantly dismissed by people I cna only describe for the most part as obnoxious geeks.. the only reason Im back at all is because lindens cant make the email notification block for the forum operate correctly.. what price complex building systems ?? I'll leave this forum to the usual mass of obnoxious dismissals, arguing for improvements that would benefit everyone rather than a few software wizards has become pointless
  9. and yet you steadfastly claim how marvellous theyre going to be for sl...and youre not actually making them anywhere ... clever....
  10. So where are you making your meshes ??
  11. Where do you make your meshes then ? In the sl beta world ? Another virtual world ? What mesh software are you using ?
  12. So presumably all these 'mesh experts' I'm hearing from must be in the beta world then....or in another virtual world where they can import meshes ??
  13. Oh your words were 'inspirational' in fact you were one of the very people who led me to my opinion.....
  14. Oh Jennifur I suddenly realised do you have to be one of this select group to try ou making these meshes ??
  15. Thanks for the concise reply I expected from someone who started arguing instead, I imagine he simply couldnt comprehend my point of view like a few others... at least you understand where Im coming from... So if I wanted ago myself without paying cash what would you recommend do you have a link to the software...? Im beginning to think if the likes of some of the people here can manage to make these meshes it might not be so complex after all....
  16. Why is complaining merely your right ??
  17. Well Jennifur Im a pretty uncomplicated sort of guy and all Im asking for are a few polygons, and a few decent triangles - have you tried getting a prim to turn into an equilateral triangle a pretty basic shape ? Its okay if your maths is good but youre pretty much restricted to a 10 metre unless you fit them together...as you know you cant make an equilateral from mega prims because the minute to stretch them according to the required formula...poof... and the building menu doesnt reflect the length of a triangles sides either... Im sure that some bright spark is going to tell me to make triangles using software outside sl... yep i cna go to those lengths for basic shapes...
  18. Oh good at least we have your assurance that none of this 3rd party software cant be used to import anything 'unpleasant' into sl that nice to know.. and its good to see that you can calculate everything in the entirety of existence and even invoke Jesus to back you up... Excellent... Funny I remember how people drooled over emerald viewer too... Lol.... (and they said the Titanic was unsinkable and that bees can't fly technically)
  19. Thanks at least you managed to respond to my post without the snide respostes of other 'techs' which software did they use was it software suggested by Lindens ?
  20. How about answering the questions I put to you a few posts back ??By the way Ive been building inworld while watching the blog and got a lot farther with my build that a house consisting of a cube and a prism stuck together....
  21. Oh and if youre going to get offensive let me respond illogically and offensively in return... Im sick of seeing that bloody awful photograph which appears every time you post it simply reflects the smug and nasty nature of your posts...
  22. I dont give a stuff about creating mesh objects I dont want to learn external software to build inworld... I'm not the one demanding in world mesh software although Ive seen plenty who are... Id reiterate what I am asking for..but Ive said it enough and you and umpteen other techs who are beginning to get offensive...are choosing not to read my posts...
  23. It seems pretty obvious to me as does your typical high handed an offensive attitude
  24. Try reading my posts a little harder.... Emerald was third party software which made it to lindens list of accepted viewers...the next minute they were banning it... whats going to happen whenLindens start a recommended list of third party mesh software are they going to reccomend expensive software free software arent they going to give any guidance I thought that allusion was simple... And if I want to build with more shapes which I do is the only alternative to learn how to use meshes... my argument is simple Lindens should be providing better in world building tools that everyone is going to have the ability t use.. assuming they were building inworld in the firsst place...
  25. How can the 'average' SL user use meshes when there is such a mass of software ranging from free to something which costs 3500 which requires times to learn to use...like the guy who came up with a house using google - sadly a very cubic ordinary looking house - after 24 hours of effort 'it only took him a day' I couldnt believe it.... Surely after the nonsense with emerald people are going to be very wary about external software anyway... What sort of 'content creators ' were invited to test the beta anyway ? Inexperienced users who've never made a sculptie ?
