That's the right thing to do, but it's unreasonable to expect the average user to do that. If you search Google, Amazon, or eBay it gives you the shiniest, newest, high quality listings right away without having to do anything else.

Or at least you think it does, because if you can't see into the black box you don't know any better.

I have never had any trouble finding what I need, and people don't seem to have trouble finding my stuff either.

I find inworld search worse when people use keywords and they don't have that item after searching their shop for ages wasting peoples time.

There's a fundamental difference between a customer looking for an item and a merchant looking for their own items and/or trying to prove the proposition, "Search is terribell! Moomph!"

A customer is probably looking for something specific which means their query will probably be filtered down more to begin with, by words and/or categories. I doubt a customer is just going to go, "Show me All The Plants (growy, factory, whatever)" and when I do using the "relevance" setting it shows me plants that look pretty good, actually.

Sellers have rigged the search results in the marketplace by flooding it with useless stuff and having their games show up at the top of search for instance search billiards and you will see what I mean

You mean like the second one under the "Best Selling" sort for "Billiards," which is getting ripped to pieces in the reviews?

that are your and clearly Luna's sick thoughts, not surprising to be honest,  but i didn't say that.

We're supposed to be getting mirrors in Second Life. Could be interesting...

Although going back to the topic at hand, I don't see anything in Inara Pey's blog either and Inara generally covers RFL. It sounds like an outreach issue on the SL RFL people's side.

In general i don't mind if there are multiple at the same time, will only buy something what i like, and not for the purpose of the event.
I don't go to fundraiser events, i give that in RL to local organisations, why on earth should i give something to a American institute.

Because after all, Dutch people's cancer is completely different from American people's cancer.

As an expert in IRL commerce, one thing really appeals to me and I share with you an amused reflection on the subject.

It has not escaped anyone's attention the sudden change in policy of the most popular -non Event- in SL I called the "60 lindens"

Expected by many as the one and only moment where they will be able to customize their avatar at a lower cost. And whoa what do I see?

Change of logo with a nice 60-90 displayed in large...
Not seen not caught. I'm confusing you.

An increase of up to 50% of the usual price!!! With obviously the choice for the seller to apply the price he wants (there must be some serious disagreements within the participants of the Event or worse the organizers have decided on their own to pass the pill smoothly?

In short, this will have catastrophic consequences in the very short term and it is totally illogical. Or is there someone within the council of 60 lindens who wants to torpedo it from within for the benefit of another Event? Let's throw a huge stone in the water.

Message to other Event creators. I think it's time to win back some customers by saying that you won't change your pricing policy.

50% is not an increase, it's just racketeering...
But the funniest part of the story will be seeing the reactions of the stunned penniless customers.

It's basically the same thing the Saturday Sale already did, and they don't seem to be in distress. They went from L$75 to L$75 - L$100 months ago. I would have thought someone of your expertise would have caught that.

More like why bother with a company that literally prides itself on not listening to its community and makes statements on how they don't read the forums.

PS- other then to delete posts which might make them uncomfortable of course.

Some people have trouble getting others to listen to them for some reason.

    No, you don't.

You have a vehicle that's scripted to HIDE some parts, and rez separate copies of them as prim litter, probably either as "temporary rez" or with a llDie scripted self delete.

And I hear Father Christmas doesn't really deliver your presents by coming down the chimbly.

(Most of them are delivered by elves who drop down ropes from a giant spaceship - EVERYONE WATCH ARTHUR CHRISTMAS IT'S AWESOME!)

Windlight settings that are the two most oft recommended settings. They blended a lot of mismatched skin textures.

For when people would throw on their raccoon coats and jump in their Maxwells to go to the store to buy skins for their system avatars.

If you know some kind of sorcery that gets past this, let me know, so my motorcycle can work the way it was made to. Otherwise, I think you're just blowing smoke up everyone's backsides for dramatic effect.

I'm diagnosed paranoid and I don't even fantasize that hard.

As for auto-returns, I've had plenty of times where I was able to get off my motorcycle and get back onto it, but I think it depends on where you're at. I actually made a setting for my bike that makes it delete itself just so I don't leave bikes stranded on the mainland if I get logged.

I've also found abandoned bikes and cars on the bottoms of canals and harbors, on public land. I don't think every region has the same autoreturn settings.

Upon checking, object-entry off doesn't return vehicles if auto-return is off. Linden Lab-owned settings are all over the map - the roads near my family town are set to object-entry on, autoreturn 10 minutes, but the abandoned land nearby is set to no-object-entry, autoreturn off.

On the other hand, a good chef listens to their customers' preferences and dietary requirements. Simply ignoring all suggestions and feedback will lead to making only sushi that the chef likes.

And on the other other hand, there's lots of area out there where people can cook up whatever they like.

    SecondLife's problem in a nutshell:-

Resident 1: "Wouldn't it be nice if we had a feature that makes SecondLife easier to use?" *Happens to mention other platform*

Resident 2: *somehow assumes it will destroy the platform, makes a doompost, accuses resident 1 of trying to turn SecondLife into other platform. Tells Resident 1 to move to other platform*

If it's a feature that would require Second Life to either be radically simplified to the point of limitation or to eliminate backward compatibility, it probably would destroy the platform.

Never mind whether it is too hard but whether such a convoluted process is necessary and one only has to go to IMVU to see a much more effective shopping process that only requires 2 clicks to demo and purchase and that the same could be instituted in SL if the Lindens actually cared about  residents like IMVU does.

Yeah, but you end up with IMVU stuff.

Hello. I want to change my av from classic to one of the newer ones. I would want to change body and head. Is there a certain one that is better than the others? Are there pros and cons to them?

I have a large amount of clothes, skins, hair, etc. that I would like to use with the new body and head. Is there an easy way to find out what will work with the newer ones?

I am not a new member. I have been playing since April 2005. Please recommend any and all ideas.

    Thank you.

There is a folder in your library labeled "Senra"; and inside it is a folder labeled "Jamie." If you copy that entire folder into your main inventory you'll get a free mesh body and head that will work with older skins. Using that for a while will at least give you an idea of how newer bodies and heads work. You'll have to change your shape some but I find the "Jamie" head to be one of the easiest heads to match to an older look.
