Don't get me wrong, I really like Frank's, but sometimes it's a bit flat there. I've looked at the other places I have LM's for, and there's never anyone there. I really enjoy putting on a formal and going dancing with nice men, but can there really be only one place in SL to do that? Seems like it. I've been away for a couple years and I'm hoping something else as good has opened up in that time. Formal dress code preferred.

Oh okay Ingrid, I get that. The poseballs not so much, never use them, but the decorating I totally get. I'm doing my new Victorian in Belliseria and having a great time doing it.

Good reasons indeed

Wanted to ask others about it and see if they have the same reasons I did. The main one for me was that RL drove me to it. I used to read the news sites when I got up in the morning, but we all know what they have become, and it's not pleasant at all. After what we have all been through in the last 18 months or so SL is quite a welcome escape. I'm sick to death of politics and anything that even hints of it anymore, and you can't escape it anywhere online but in SL that I've seen. YouTube buries me in it when I log on there. Even in SL some will go there, and I just block them for it. That's the main thing for me, but then I also wanted to see SL on my new 70 inch monitor. It rocks.

For my part I cannot imagine why I would want to do that.

Ah yes, the friends thing. I think all of us are shy to some extent, and reluctant to just IM someone else out of the blue, which is why so many just sit around in the sims interacting with no one, hoping someone will IM them. Sometimes everyone in the sim is doing this, happens a lot at Fogbound. Sometimes you just have to screw up your nerve and get proactive about it, say hi to someone who looks interesting to you and not worry about the response. What's the worst they can say? Recently at Calas I just sat down next to a nice looking guy where he didn't expect me, and we had a great talk. Another time I just walked right up to a guy and said "hi dude, how's it going?" Okay, it's a little bold for some, but you get the point. Another idea that worked for me was really quite passive, and counterintuitive. No one was IMing me, so I put in my profile "I am a very boring person and you really shouldn't bother with me." Boom! People started IMing me all the time, wanting to talk about it and offer support. So it's a social engineering trick, but it worked On the whole meeting people and making friends in SL is a lot like RL, just with a few added twists and cautions thrown in. Just be creative and proactive.

Well for the sake of accuracy they did not acknowledge aliens, nor did they disallow them. It was pretty much a report saying "Hey everyone there are these weird things flying around in our skies and we have no idea what they are, we now return you to your regularly scheduled program." So a nothingburger. If aliens rent the condo next to me I'll give it some attention, until then I'm not concerned.

Well part of the reason I stayed away from SL the last two years was people aggressively trying to pry into my RL, even going so far as to use alts to get information out of me. There could have been no good reason for their prying, and I file that under stalking. I don't use my real name on the internet, nor would I put my RL in my profile, for very good reasons.

Well not in this case. I've relogged several times now, and it's not in Lost and Found, so I guess it's just gone.

Well I got that dog in Marketplace years ago, and not it's not there anymore. There's a pit bull being called Zooby, but I'm pretty sure it's not the same seller, and my original dog has been discontinued. There is a dog retrieval tool to get your dog back that registers it with the name you gave it, and that never works anymore, you just get "default dog" which doesn't work. There was also a sim where you could buy dogs and supplies, and that seems to be gone as well. Bummer in the summer...

Ah! Thank you very much for those points of wisdom in SL! I've been away for too long and have forgotten a lot. It's going to take me some time to catch up. I have to say I'm disappointed to find out that my outfits include body parts instead of just the clothes I'm wearing, and now to upgrade to v 5.3 I have to delete all my outfits and start over from scratch. That's not a well thought out feature of SL.

I know Rolig, my plan is just to delete them all from inventory, along with everything 4.1, take off my whole body and reinstall the new one again

Too late for that Rowan, I gave up and put on an outfit with the old parts in it. I have next week off and I'll try to figure this out then. Thank you everyone for your patient help with this most vexing episode.

No I'm not, already tried that. I had no feet in that shot, and no hands. I've just gone ahead and put on one of my old outfits to get my hands and feet back. I think we have all had enough of this for one day. I'm just going to put on a formal and go to Frank's for dancing.

The alpha section will not let me do anything at all. The buttons do not work, I can't mask or reveal anything.

I just looked and they are not off in the alpha layer. but wait, I can't do anything with the alpha layer in the HUD...
