  1. Modify permissions has become so important to me. There's this coffee cup that I love the look of but it's no mod which basically tells me that I have to change the size of my av to fit the cup, instead of the other way around. That seems dumb so I didn't buy it.

I also rely on mod perms to script items into rezz boxes. And to rename clothes when the name doesn't specify what color they are. I have fatpacks where each piece has exactly the same name 😑

Creators must be imagining nefarious motivations for wanting mod perms, but really it's just to make our sl fit us better.

You don't have to move at all, you can zoom and get your item, or you can zoom to the item you want and type in the local chat: tp2cam ( that if you're using firestorm ), and you will be there in blink of an eye, that's what i always do.

Sometimes I don't even want to render their "scene", and sometimes I crash when there's too much there, but camming definitely helps either way.

I get this, and I'm not about to tell you you're "wrong," or should feel differently.

But I have to say that I like a really beautiful or thoughtfully-constructed shopping parcel. Some of these places are so interesting and nice in their own right that i grab an LM and return for pics. And I really appreciate a beautiful store -- there are so few of those. One men and women's clothing designer I sometimes buy from has laid out their store to look like a higher-end RL clothing store. It's really quite a lovely experience shopping there.

It may of course be that my preferences run this way because I actually don't much enjoy shopping, but I do like exploring beautiful or interesting places.

That's true. I do love the effort put in to make places alive and beautiful. But I personally would prefer to be given a choice when it comes to exploring the scenery, instead of being forced to by a landing point. I shop but I hate the actual process of it so I try to make it as quick as possible. I guess when I'm not on a mission, that's when I actually enjoy their set up.

  3. Peeved at store landing points that do not place you IN the store. I'm sure the store owners think their landscaping is too beautiful to miss but not everyone wants to or has the hardware to render all that. Some of us just want to buy something and go.

When I find I have to run through a distance of falling rain, snow, and a maze of trees just to get to the store entrance, I give up and just go home.

Being in world is becoming untenable with the what seems like daily problems now.  At some point I'm going to give up my two sims and stop spending money at all since it has become clear that this is a dying world.  I don't see how people want to stay with all the problems these days.

What problems are you referring to?

Hi everyone .. can anyone here tell me where this avatar comes from? The owner was AFK I think, and never replied to my ask ... thank you!

    tiny-kitty.jpg

That looks like the FinfanCat avatar freebie from Ajuda SL Brasil. When I was last there, it was on the bottom most level of the freebie store, near the entrance on the left wall. But you can always use Area Search and look for cat.

  6. This is a bit of a weird and maybe unanswerable question - does anyone have the slightest idea how long it usually takes for JIRAs to be looked at and actually resolved?

I ask because I noticed I'm unable to unlike feed posts (on web profiles). I then noticed there's already a JIRA reported on it but that was more than a year ago.

I'm sure the priority depends on the nature of the bug but I sometimes wonder if they ever do anything with these JIRA reports. Some of the errors reported are very old and the JIRAs are accepted but the errors still exist.

Yeah, I'll usually just type in 'Demo' and 'Search in this store', to see their range.

It all just doubles up to more stupidity when you take into account that people tag their stuff with everything they can think of. If you search for 'Maitreya AND Combat boots' you'll still get dresses and swimwear pop up - that have no boots at all!

Lol yeah and don't forget the gachas that you don't want to see.

Peeve: the Second Life Marketplace being silly.

Just ugh, every clothing web shop I ever looked at (which, granted, aren't a whole lot) just had one listing for a product, and then you have the size and colour options in that product listing. Having to go through 3-4 pages of the same product over and over again because there's a gazillion colour options for every darned thing is just disgusting. Especially when, once you finally get past one block of listings for the same shoes, the same creator has another 3-4 pages of the top, and 3-4 pages of the bottoms for the same outfit, also in a gazillion colours.

It makes browsing such a chore that I frequently just give up trying to find something.

So then you decide that hey, I'm 8 pages in, let's just put 'NOT <creator>' in the search to get rid of it - but when you've gotten a few pages in again, there's another creator who did the same, and then another, and then a hundred more.

Maybe give us a block option for the MP (if there isn't one already?) so that we don't manually have to put 'NOT <creator 1> NOT <creator 2> NOT <creator 3>' etc in the search.

It'd also get rid of the requirement for separate demo listings.

Yeah I hate that, wish there was a way to condense/consolidate per item and you just click the item to see its different colors.

If I'm browsing a particular store, I sort to see the cheapest first so their demos show me their whole collection instead of each and every color. Doesn't help if you're not browsing by store though.

This. This right here is my answer too. That is so creepy scary mate. lol The only thing I'd change is I don't generally assume people aren't worthwhile. I like to try and attempt to think positively and think everyone is worthwhile to some degree. It's more a case of me asking myself if this person is more worth my while in having to deal with them or are they full of poo and going to be a pain in my behind. Are they going to disrupt the balance of the force in my little bubble of zen and peace that I work so hard to maintain? lol I believe this meme I created sums it right on up. lol :D

Totally agree . Just because someone is not worth my while, doesn't mean they're not worthwhile. Sometimes it's about compatibility, and it's got nothing to do with a person's merit or value. Not worth my while but could very much be worth someone else's.

top of banline box is about 50 meters above terrain level

    ...

whenever I have had a skybox then the only unguided tourists I ever had were random green dot map teleporters landing on my head

    ps add

i went thru a time with a skybox that seemed to attract quite a few random map teleport tourists. Might have been because it was on a A region, dunno why exactly tho just got quite a few more than I ever got anywhere else

Oh yeh 50m - thanks Mollymews.

I kept having the head sitting teleporters in my skybox too and it always baffled me until did it to someone else one time! Ok so I don't know if this is always the reason but when I did it, it was when I was curious about who was around me, so I right clicked on a name in my Nearby List to zoom but accidentally clicked on "Teleport to" and landed on their head - oops!! 😵

menu World \ Show \ Banlines has been in the Linden viewer for over 12 years

it baffles me that the visibility of banlines on our screens is still presented as a rationale to use a scripted ejector

I use scripted ejector for skyboxes because banlines only work up to a certain height... forgot how high though 🤔

I agree, new people exploring shouldn't be called "morons".  I walked into private homes when new as well and wouldn't want that label applied to me.

What about the griefers though?  I think it's these people the OP is mostly referring to -- people who just enjoy bothering others. I encountered a lot of these types of people when I had my park/rental area.

True, griefers are a different story but enough to fill 500 slots in your ban list? Really?? He also referred to people just entering and not respecting the holy fence.

Griefing is against TOS and there are things that can be done about that. Reluctance to use those options because he wants to keep up the ambience, and instead just blames anyone who enters is a stretch on his part.

I'm all for privacy. Just not for the name calling since he's making huge assumptions about anyone who enters his private plot.

  13. Totally turned off by the name calling by the OP. What's "normal" and "manners" vary between people and cultures. Also, some don't know to approach sl the same as rl. When I first joined, I didn't even know there were private homes. I found myself in quite a few because they were so pretty and I wanted to take pictures. Glad I was never berated for being a moron. When I got booted by security orbs, then I realized not all areas are for free roaming. It takes some time for people to learn the sl culture. Plus, the only rules people need to respect are the TOS. LL provides enough tools for us to navigate with. If you don't want to use them, then it's on you. Wandering into a private area in an online virtual world does NOT make anyone a bad person.
