So what changed in the Terms of Service?
Coffee Pancake replied to Lucia Nightfire's topic in General Discussion Forum
Moderate allows everything Adult allows with a few exceptions. Adult activities much be behind closed doors on M land, but nudity isn't inherently adult and that is unchanged by the ToS update. -

This has destroyed the thread on ToS changes and merged all the actual things we need clarification concerning policy into a different random thread about "avatar age". -

Thread for posting pictures of avatars so the peanut gallery can judge your age .. on a platform famous for banning all your accounts based on pictures of avatars that might look an age. WCGW -

Oh yes, because you're ever going to give up being a furry .. come on. demanding people surrender self-identification when you wouldn't even consider the same for split second if it was your fluffy hide on line. remind me to shrug if and when they come for the furries. -

Why not, you're doing the same for everyone who isn't getting over this already. A lot of people are asking some very searching questions at the moment and feeling broadly unwelcome and under-attack in a place they have called home for years. Yes. Fully gown adults are shedding real tears over all this. and here the peanut gallery, entirely unaffected, but with an opinion none the less .. wow.. just that...wow -

SL is. Second Life .. home to everyone let down by their first life. The place where people literally find and make family. If you prefer it clinical, go to meta. -

Because that kind of look being judged as a child (due to lack of cultural familiarity) is not uncommon, the new rules explicitly prohibit child avatars on A land .. the presumption that this is a child and the actually clear (for once) rule is an invitation to do the right thing. Like it or not, it's open season on any adult who looks young and it will be up to LL to exercise judgement. -

Let's just consider that adults who play child avatars might have emotional reasons for doing that. Little empathy in this thread would go a really long way right now. -

Oh hell no, put that face on a body with a pair of "no way it's a child safety boobs" and .. yeah still banned. came to reddit grieving and i blocked their post because a dogpile wouldn't help anyone. I am angry at how often i have had to do that now. -

Which is loaded with personal, social, peer group and cultural bias. .. and they really seem to have a problem with femboys and kawaii makeup. It shouldn't be surprise that a group commonly seen as a gateway to homosexuallity catches abuse reports, shame and guilt and all that. Being actually asian and wanting a self similar adult avatar is also felt to be high risk. There are likely more furries, however child avatars don't exist in a vacuum. They are the heart of family groups and as such underpin a very broad social graph that includes a lot of entirely adult avatars, and that starts to get into social cascade territory. How many of your friends would it take before SL feels cold and lonely, and you move on, leaving someone else feeling cold and lonely. -

Everyone will be more than a little pissed if the new rules only apply to human children and furry "cubs" (continue to) get a pass because they aren't "children". -

Making content for child avatars has never ever been a grey area and presents no more risk than making any other content. Child avatars have been a central part of SL's community from the very start. -

But they must be able to change avatar, or in the case of rebirth body users. they switch shape and skin and BAM! Their avatar is now a tween/teen/adult wearing all the same stuff they had, same body, same head, same outfit. A child avatar isn't an account status, it's a collection of attachments and clothing and stuff. All of which can be removed and replaced and changed because that's how all this works. it's a nonsense that only exists because someone who has no idea how SL works decreed that "child avatars can't ever be nude" (because nudity was mentioned in the medium article and we're just ticking boxes). A farcical modesty layer is the best they could come up with and they couldn't even come up with guidance as to what that actually means. As written - The new rules - You can have a child avatar wearing one sock with a modesty panel on one elbow and it's legal (wait, did you assume it had to cover a specific area? why do you think we have been asking for guidance!!) Read this post - It's the best in the entire thread. -

This is why I am against permabans for any reason. They don't work. They have never worked. Especially when it comes to dealing with the actual bad apples, they just come right back. The honest ones stay away and get to deal with emotional trauma and ptsd. -

The modesty layer is also a joke when the rebirth body exists. Aren't you a child avatar ? Not right now ..... -

This is the issue we're trying to get an answer on and .. LL are saying nothing. @Tommy Linden @Maggie Linden You do realize that with out explicitly detailing what a modest layer is, a literal reading of the rules would allow for one on the back of an avatar's head whilst wearing socks.
