OK I was wondering about the default animations in the viewer BUT BUT BUT LOL -- things  in that list above like head and torso rotation to follow look CAN be negated. (I have had that turned off in Firestorm for many years). And I have no "body roll during flight".  So I guess I am not understanding what you area saying.  All you need to do when making an animation to "stop" the underlying default ones is to have keyframe(s) that change the default from 0 to something else for that bone or bones.  Then your animation overrides the defaults.    This is one of the first things new animators come up against and wonder why there POSE isn't really static. It is because they have left some bone info as default and not defined.

Back in the day LAP poses sometimes had two versions, one with static head (like most are now) and a free head one that used the underlying animations.

So maybe I am just confused - or have no idea what I am talking about.

The OP was talking about the Legacy body "breathing" with the demo.  Rolig was explaining that our default avatars have basic movement viewer side which was probably what the OP was seeing.

Legacy, itself, had no breathing animation built in.

Those ban anyone that makes the decision to dress this way or that. I get that.   That bans a behavior.

My issue lately is with the acceptable levels of racism, bigotry and sexism in SL that describe a blanket ban of anyone that is gay/straight, or male/woman, or black/white.

What I'm hearing is that this is OK here in SL.

Yes, it's allowed on private areas.  Is it accepted by everyone?  Not at all but as Scylla said, the only way to possibly change this is to protest, boycott specific places with these restrictions.

In theory . . . allow me to show you screenshots of a few (hundred) groups I've collected.

Actually, I can't. The software here "hid" my last post when I attempted to do that.

And, of course, you can say whatever the hell you want about women. That's a freebie.

Yes, I've noticed groups seem to be exempt from hate speech as far as their name/charter go.  I'll admit, I don't run around ARing them but maybe we all should start.

Yes of course you can do that. You can ban people for simply not liking their nose or no reason at all. No sim in SL (unless its owned by LL directly) is truely "public". Actually, not allowing certain avatars based on sex is super common: Many lesbian and gay clubs don't allow visitors of the opposite sex.

There used to be a club that didn't allow white men.  I did notice a lot of 'new' black men showing up though.  Coincidence?  Probably not.

I have a question about acceptable forms of discrimination that might be allowed here in SL.

Are we allowed to ban avatars from a sim, based on sexual orientation, race, age, or gender?

In other words, in an otherwise public sim, can I ban all gay? or all trans people, or all women,  solely based on their orientation, or gender?

The question is this:  Is this behavior allowed, and if not where is that stated?

    -Dillin

How would you even know unless it's stated somewhere in their profile or they told you specifically?  Do you mean gender in RL or gender in SL?  Sexual orientation in RL or SL?  As Alwin said, people can ban anyone they choose for any reason or no reason.  Also, they don't even need to tell the banned person why they were banned.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll definitely check out the Itty Bitty event, and will also try out the demo of the Legacy Perky - it's not exactly cheap, but if I end up liking it a lot...

Legacy is or has already, released a petite add on for perky.  Again, only for smaller breasts but free for current perky owners.

Jake still needs that free third party add-on to activate BOM support. It's found on the marketplace and has some huge banners in the Belleza mainstore.

Wow.  I would have thought they had updated by now.  Good to know.

  9. Perhaps quit calling them youth avatars and try young adult.  I'm just telling you that some people might find it offensive to see "youths" (avatar representing a person under 18) smoking weed as offensive.  I didn't say you couldn't but to expect some backlash if you did.

Well I mean my best friend is a weed head and she wants a few shirts as well as others for their youth. Your guess is as good as mine why they want their youth is beyond me.

I understand but when you say 'youth' that would indicate an avatar under 18.  Otherwise, it would be called an adult.  Posing a youth/child with weed would not be a good idea regardless of whether you marked it as an adult item.  In fact, it might cause some people to file an AR.
