Second Life Release 5.1.0.507006 (64bit)
iceing Braveheart replied to Gabryel Nyoki's topic in Second Life Viewer
I doubt there is a fix? at least with method or what they are using trying to do Obsolete Platforms This version is the last Second Life Release to support Windows XP or below and Mac OS X prior to 10.7. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alternate_Viewers there really is no reason for a 32 bit viewer to exist if they are stone walling blacklisting banning boycotting windows xp as windows xp would do better then microsoft windows vista 7 8 10 ect upwards as after windows xp all microsoft operating systems are over bloated pigs on memory plus the 32 bit memory limitations and after microsoft windows xp, all versions of microsoft windows home editions are 64 bit unless consumers were scammed at point of sale microsoft should of never made another 32 bit operating system after windows xp home but they did and they still do, the crutch for software like this if your running a 64 bit operating system already chances are your graphics card already has 64 bit drivers for applications and gaming ect and the 64 bit operating system and software 64 bit is super old.. for consumers. it may be new for linden labs but for the rest of the world it was a very long time ago April 25, 2005; 12 years ago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP_Professional_x64_Edition June 23, 2003; 14 years ago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Life has the software been hiding under a rock in research and development? -
Second Life Release 5.1.0.507006 (64bit)
iceing Braveheart replied to Gabryel Nyoki's topic in Second Life Viewer
did all releases of Alex Ivy have SL_Launcher? in the start when i couldn't get the 64 bit viewer to work I used the 32 bit viewer and it worked of Alex Ivy but I just tested the 32 bit Alex Ivy now and it no longer works Release Notes If you use an HD 2000 or 3000 series video card on Windows 10, choose 32 bit http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/5.0.8.328879 Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics 2000 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81502 Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics 3000 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81500 people can now clearly see there hardware has 64 bit drivers and support after 13 years of having 64 bit support linden labs is going to show up to the party late blacklist everyone and tell them they are not 64 bit and restrict them from accessing and using 64 bit even though they have clearly been 64 bit for more then a decade longer then second life linden labs has ever been -
Second Life Release 5.1.0.507006 (64bit)
iceing Braveheart replied to Gabryel Nyoki's topic in Second Life Viewer
I tried sansar it also works and seems to be 64bit https://www.sansar.com/download the updated viewer here only changes the client exe to tell you not to run the exe http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/5.1.0.508209 what does SL_Launcher do? and why is SL_Launcher needed? does firestorm have SL_Launcher? does sansar have SL_Launcher? does the 32bit second life viewer have SL_Launcher? i really do not remember these SL_Launcher issues with the 32bit linden labs viewer in the past what changed? will firestorm have a sansar viewer? -

Perrie Juran wrote: Canoro Philipp wrote: it it works under the system that Rex Cronon is using, why block it just because its old? maybe is too much of a job for the Lindens to test the new releases in a wide variety of operating systems and configurations, so they minimize that job by testing only with the latest lunix, windows and Mac OS, probably with the new releases things are not gonna work well on untested operating systems, thats a risk that the user would have to deal with it, but why block it for the users if it works, just to minimize their work load? they should let the user get the risk, and if something is a showstoper they should let the user decide if they are willing to live with the problem, or when they have decide or have the resources to do it, upgrade. it remembers me when mesh came, people were blocked because they didnt have SSE2 capable processors, their viewers were still able to log in, they just didnt see mesh correctly, and some users were willing to live with it while they took the time to save money or travel to a place where computers were sold to upgrade their computers, with the blocking, based on the "shared experience", merchants and people that had jobs and other important things in-world, they just had to give up SL and wait for when the time comes when they are able to upgrade. blocking a product that works, as much as the user is willing to stand, provides a lot of disadvantages to the user. Well, right now LL has not mandated this for the TPV's plus they haven't said he can't log in so if he wants he can rework the code himself or use a TPV. But I'll say it again, supporting an UNSECURE system does a dis-service to us all. Quoting from the Server Group Logs: A[19:37:57] Simon Linden: The viewer group has a pretty good idea of the usage for various OS and hardware ... this kind of decision isn't made lightly A[19:38:17] Rex Cronon: imo that is a "genius" idea. lets see how empty ll will get:( A[19:38:21] Whirly Fizzle: XP has a bloody awful crash rate. Most of the out of memory crashes we see in FS support are on XP 32 bit. A[19:38:28] Simon Linden: I do know that a disproportioned about [sp? amount?] of crashes and graphics problems are on the older hardware. I I don't think that Oz and Simon and the other Linden's are going out of their way to sabatoge SL or to simply reduce their work load. It was not a decision they made lightly. This really isn't good enough your not gonna lose enough money for next goal a suggestion would be to block drivers and software if your not using norton anti virus and have a active subscription blocked since it is not safe and runs risk of crashes if your not using zone alarm pro firewall blocked since it runs risk of crashes and is not safe to not have a professional firewall at all times while connected to the internet if your not using pre selected video card drivers by linden labs blocked since it runs risk of compatibility issues and crashes and unsafe you will have to chose wether running second life is more important to you then playing your favorite video games or testing beta drivers overclocked computers with overclocked processors and gpu's video cards some are even manufactured over clocked overclocking may result in instability and crashes linden labs should region block if users are not american if users connect from around the world will have a lagy experience which can allow for lag cheating in combat sims which is not safe or fair and lag can also result in crashes so please more blocks hurry it is urgent since linden labs cannot fix or make there own software run properly they are going to try and dictate how users operate and use there computers wether or not it is right or wrong by adding more blocks and manipulating people personally I think linden labs should mind there own ******* businesses but that is just me -

Updates to the Second Life System Requirements
iceing Braveheart replied to Perrie Juran's topic in General Discussion Forum
Perrie Juran wrote: Updates to the Second Life System Requirements We have made some changes to the Second Life System Requirements to bring them more up to date, and are making some related changes to the Viewer: We have removed Windows XP and Mac OSX 10.6 from the list of supported operating systems. Microsoft has announced the end of support for XP, and it has been some time since Apple has released updates for 10.6. For some time now, the Viewer has been significantly less stable on these older systems, and the lack of security updates to them make them more hazardous to use. We have no plans to actually block those systems, but problems reported on them that cannot be reproduced on supported systems will not likely be fixed. The Windows installer has been modified to verify that the system has been updated with the most recent Service Packs from Microsoft. While we will not block installation on Windows 8 at this time, we strongly recommend upgrading to 8.1 for greater stability. Our data shows that the Viewer is significantly less stable on systems that have not been kept up to date, so the installer will now block installation until the updates have been applied. This change will be effective in a Viewer version to be released in the next few weeks, so it would be a good idea to get your system up to date before then. You can find information on how to install the latest updates at the Microsoft Windows Update page. ____________________________________________________________________ http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Tools-and-Technology/Updates-to-the-Second-Life-System-Requirements/ba-p/2643650 Thx for the heads up first linden labs blocks my gpu/video card now they will block my os I wont be purchasing any linden L$ now thank you saved me rl $$$ -

Second Life is flawed by design perhaps Linden Lab's could elaborate on it but I have no idea for motive for why they did it. it Linden lab's has scripts in there client software where you are required to have there expressed permission in order to run the second life on any pc component even though second life recently added my card to the gpu table so that I can run it I am not sure that I really care anymore. after being trolled out on this thread by countless second life users, fan boys, elitists ect that defend sl when they know not of what they talk about. it has taken some where around 7 months real life time for second life to unblock my hardware and I really think it was a result after making this thread only had I not of made this thread it probably would of been back burned for several more years I have no idea what second life runs like on a new modern pc because second life does not support a personal computer only after my card was replaced retired did they feel it was good enough to add it to the gpu table I am not sure I am going to return to second life as I don't want to wast anymore money and time on this catastrophe of an app the only thing second life has done is provide a band aid to a water pipe either way sooner or later down the road my video card pc ect will die or need to be replaced and it will be the exact same mess all over again it is kinda crazy that customers would have to deal with this kind of none sense when the servers linden lab's rent's cost customers $1000's of dollars because linden lab's refuse to let the customer host them the marketplace really isn't much cheaper either I have no idea who at linden lab's is running the show but I think a 4 year old could make better software decisions and choices I think the risk of loss is far to great with this app and technology so I will back burner it and stop investing and steer clear of for now and watch and wait from the side lines then get caught in the cross fire again and end up dealing with this all over again oh no I also forgot Linden Lab's did have have the time to go into these files to prevent the customer from coping and pasting in the files from 3rd party viewers to get it to work as a work around but linden lab's needed to seal that up quick and blocked it again but again zero support and blocked a lovely company if I owned stock I would liquidate it I don't play IMVU or WoW suggesting users go play another app or game really isn't helpful or a solution to Linden Lab's and customers problems there is no if an's or buts about it this pc will be replaced not long down the road one way or another so it most definitely will not work with second life at a future date this app has gone from fun enjoyment to being a thorn in my side the only way to get second life to run is to go to university and become a programer or post in forums and hope someone with some programing expertise can help you out and there will always be delays and may be times when you may not find anyone -

Please find in this new version of the SL V3 Viewer some long awaited GPU Table Updates. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.6.9.282553 Good Testing to you all. P.S. The SL Share feature is has been merged into this release as well. This version appears to work though I would still prefer Linden Lab's still remove the script blocking hardware from second life as they are unable to be transparent about it so that I and no one else has to go through this again in the future http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.6.10.282997 -

with the exception of my last pc all my pc's in history have never worked with sl it is good to have closure finally as to what the bloody hell was wrong with the app second life all these years and I stand by thread title, businesses like to grow and gain/increase profit this hole apps a cash shop micro transaction shop I cannot see how second life can achieve this when there software will not work with store bought pc's most people will not go to the forum just shrug it off and leave look for something else to do, and those who contact linden lab's will be blow en off with a copy and past message and support ticket closed saying take a hike file a bug report in the jira and if they do fallow through and file the jira they will find them selfs in a situation that is being back burned and there jira ticket closed as duplicate along with 1,000's of others before them the forum is about the only place I can find to leave feedback for this particular app as the support system & jira appears worthless in this situation this is second life's future on the current path they walk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CyberTown -

Just because YOU are having problems with YOUR computer and SL doesn't mean SL doesn't run on PCs. I'm having no problems with mine and apparently neither are the other 46K players online at the time of this post. So, quit whining because SL programmers haven't added your brand new shiney. Bottom line is, you seem to think that you are the center of the universe and if your system doesn't run SL, then none are. Hubris, much? you are backwards second life is having problems with there software, my pc runs great, but thx for asking there is a difference between thinking you are center of the universe and asking linden lab's to fix there own mistakes, with there app second life they need to get rid of that bloody script blocking hardware it is absurd I don't get why they ever created it in the first place, until they remove it the cycle will never end nor will the problems with there software, I got windows 7 in 2009 and my video card in 2013 I never needed a gpu table from microsoft for the hardware to work just my basic drivers, why the bloody hell do you need a gpu table for sl to work? why do no other games or apps use a gpu table? why does imvu work with out a gpu table? if they didn't make there software borked then maybe they wouldn't be trailing so far behind in likes? 329,033 likes · 3,265 talking about this https://www.facebook.com/secondlife 3,776,408 likes · 15,598 talking about this https://www.facebook.com/IMVU so do you have any real suggestions for a 3D social game? since second life doesn't support a pc
