  1. While in the past Asus may have made some nice motherboards there is currently an alert on The Better Business Bureau's web site for ASUS, buyers beware http://www.bbb.org/greater-san-francisco/business-reviews/computers-wholesale-and-manufacturers/asus-computer-international-in-fremont-ca-16870#sthash.2pgJYkOX.dpuf
  2. Personally I wouldn't go lower then a 760 for a laptop or pc generally speaking for sl or gaming this is just an example if the card cannot maintain higher then 30 frames per second it may start to produce undesirable performance "lag" in the first graph here you can see the 660 pretty much lags out in nearly half the games it was tested with while the 760 holds its ground at above 30 http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gtx-760m/performance for the 755 and below nvidia did the comparison vs Intel HD 4000 Integrated http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-745m/description http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-745m/performance
  3. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SecondLifeViewer and delete gpu_table and then you will see what it is like in the event that anyone tries this and is unable to get there client working normally again simple uninstall the sl client you are currently using and reinstall it and it will replace the missing gpu_table you deleted
  4. Linden Labs Second Life are directly to blame for this you will not encounter any issues similar to this with any other app or game in existence Linden Labs the creator of Second Life have set up there client so that if they do not explicitly give your video card permission to run there client then all graphics options will be disabled and you will not be allowed or abled to re enable any of the graphics setting options with out re writing some files your self with in the Second Life client previous comments about low settings is a gross vague under statement as its totally wiped out I just checked the current Linden Labs beta Second Life Release/3.6.6.280979 and it does not support video cards either to answer your question I am not sure if any Second Life viewers will work with the 745 as I tried to search the file for the card in Firestorm's gpu_table I downloaded for my card 780 and I was not abled to find it unless they have a newer version out now you may need someone to create you a special made file or edit it for your self the quickest way to search txt files is to use Ctrl+F and then type 745 ect in the search box and it will find it for you if it is there I think this is the current bug report and I also see no mention of 745 ect https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/STORM-1950 here is a picture of what will happen when trying to run second life with the way Linden Labs currently has the Second Life Viewer set up Basic shaders Atmospheric shaders Advanced Lighting Model Ambient Occlusion Depth of Field Shadows Water Reflections Hardware Skinning Avatar cloth Sky ect will all be disabled and cannot be re enabled as they are all grayed out completely I already had to go through this too :matte-motes-zipped:
  5. The memory leak is fixed here :smileyvery-happy: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.6.6.280797 strangely they did not fix the leak in there other viewer Snowstorm why do they have three separate beta's at same time? I downloaded and installed Second Life Snowstorm Viewer version 3.6.6.280979 and it leaked memory like crazy I had to uninstall it immediately http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.6.6.280979 but in Second Life Materials Viewer version 3.6.6.280963 it is fixed http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.6.6.280963 and Second Life Maintenance Viewer version 3.6.6.280939 appears to be fixed http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.6.6.280939
  6. I made the JIRA the memory leak is present across all linden lab clients up to Second Life 3.6.5 (280476) Aug 29 2013 22:47:43 (Second Life Project Snowstorm)
  7. I just tried Second Life 3.6.5 (280476) Aug 29 2013 22:47:43 (Second Life Project Snowstorm) and it does not support the video card either
  8. Second Life 3.6.5 (280370) Aug 28 2013 19:22:00 (Second Life Release) and still no support for video card they really shouldn't block video cards in general if they don't plain to maintain they client
  9. Ty this is good to know my last video card suspiciously died recently in Second Life
  10. This is a Linden Labs second life viewer memory leak and not driver related. I have tested with infinity other apps, games and only second life's viewer behaves like this. I also uploaded a picture where the only thing running on pc was second life and second life had used up over 2.4GB of video card memory. While virtually anything and everything you do with the second life viewer increases video card memory usage endlessly the fastest way to lag a system out and maximize memory usage would be to minimize and unminimize the Linden Labs second life client works like a charm every time and can be done with in seconds/minutes tops and you can maximize and lag out the video card in any pc on earth doing this as the leak does not seem to have any boundaries that I know of. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/130207i1282B4BA6BFAF635/image-size/original?v=mpbl-1&px=-1
  11. That is very interesting as I am currently using that exact driver version 320.49-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql & PhysX-9.13.0725-SystemSoftware my video card is only supported by two whql driver versions GeForce 320.49 Driver WHQL & GeForce 320.18 Driver WHQL & several beta versions though I would really prefer not to put a beta driver in my system as it has not been tested and verified and nvidia has told me directly twice that modifying drivers is not recommend or supported I have played many other games/apps with out issue only sl has single handedly actually crashed my pc/video card

  13. Hiya thx for reply this was with a clean install where the previous sl client was uninstalled and the new one manually downloaded and installed and cache was cleaned and I also cleaned/deleted sl files from here C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\SecondLife I have no idea what sl was using for system ram on its exe at the time I never thought to look at that at the time I only looked at system ram usage during it because it was a system hard lock and not only client and the system ram usage was only at 33% which is a perfectly fine figure it would have to be at around 100% in order to hardlock the system so I don't think this is system ram related when I went to check what the ram usage was on video card I could not check with out getting errors out of memory so my guess is sl leaked to the maximum the video card could handle and beyond until it finally crashed completely out I ran a lil test after to see if it was possible and it looked perfectly possible as I jumped back in sl and 5 minutes into the session I was already using over 1.3GB of video card memory and still climbing
  14. After minor extended use of the Second Life 3.6.4 (280048) Aug 19 2013 21:45:32 (Second Life Release) I am finding the performance of sl greatly degraded and sluggish and hard locking my pc with video card out of memory errors resulting in full system crashes hard restarts so I started doing a lil retracing of my steps right now been in sl maybe 5 minutes and already using over 1205MB gpu memory it just keeps climbing endlessly per sim visited and duration logged in and distance traveled in a sim watching the usage climb real time with nvidia inspector quite a cosmic memory leak to crash out a 3GB card and would probably crash out a titan with a leak this size as it seams to have no boundaries I guess I will just have to really limit my usage of second life to very little to none to take precaution of Linden labs viewer causing irreversible damage to my pc

  16. I don't understand the claims on 285's having allot more ram then a 770 or 760 or 780 the 285 only has 1GB of ram http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-285/specifications while the 770, 760 both sport 2GB of ram and 760, 770 after market cards with up to 4GB per card and the 780 with 3GB and titan 6GB http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-760/specifications http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=gtx+760+4gb&N=-1&isNodeId=1 http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-770/specifications http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=gtx+770+4gb&N=-1&isNodeId=1 http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-780/specifications http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-titan/specifications
  17. I notice you are a bit wary about getting another card similar to the 610 the 610 was never designed or meant to ever run any games it was only made for turning a pc on and opening a web browser and nothing more where as the 760 and above are designed for gaming if you really want smooth game play buy the biggest graphics card you can afford or save up for the biggest as they all will vary in performance http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-610 http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu/NVIDIA+GeForce+GT+610/review http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-760/videos
  18. For the cards you specifically named 690, 760, 770, they can all run second life on all settings maxed out my 460 ran second life on all settings maxed out with out issue and those 3 cards destroy my 460 770 is faster then a 680 and a 690, 690 is a double 680 so 770 beats it performance wis you will not be abled to always use the 690 properly due to lack of application support or drivers ect so 770 is a much better card then 690 and far cheaper at $399.99 vs $999.99 and the 760 would be a great entry level gaming card on a very tight budget
  19. if you have the money for a 690 and want the best get a 780 or titan gaming wis the 780 and titan are nearly same performance only the 780 only costs $649.99 while titan is over $1,000 as for 770 the titan and 780 destroy it pure domination the 690 beats out all but that is only because it is sli two gpu's on a single card and that has set backs as you will need to have application support to utilize the 690's dual gpu power vs the titan or 780 and 770 single gpu power can be utilized anywhere http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu/NVIDIA+GeForce+GTX+770/review http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu/NVIDIA+GeForce+GTX+780/review http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu/NVIDIA+GeForce+GTX+Titan/review http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu/NVIDIA+GeForce+GTX+690/review
  20. Thank you that helped allot almost everything seams unlocked now except "Terrain details" which are now broken and grayed out I downloaded and installed Firestorm 4.4.2 (34167) then copy and pasted the gpu_table into the linden labs viewer then uninstalled firestorm is there any risk to the video card hardware that could cause damage? I am new to this so I thought I should ask I really hope linden labs fixes there viewer soon though I will back up the tables anyways as I don't think the linden labs will fix there viewer any time soon
  21. I up dated as you suggested Second Life 3.6.4 (280048) Aug 19 2013 21:45:32 (Second Life Release) and same issue nothing works
