  1. I have a water parcel that's slightly more than that (3584sqm), it's a Mature mainland parcel that's deep... It's for rent at L$850 a week. Let me know if you're interested...
  2. I had lumiya installed on my android phone, and although it worked great and claimed to be free, it wasn't. I would get a $4 to $5USD charge on my account from the app. It wasn't necessarily monthly nor quarterly, it was sporadic and I never authorized it. So I blocked app permissions and uninstalled it.
  3. Keep the home selection page up and refresh/reload every few minutes (or seconds). I did that about 11 times before the specific house I wanted suddenly became available - The Grayson (modern). It's huge, and after living in it for a few months, I abandoned it for another specific house I wanted to try - The Kaze (asian). Just so you know, the bigger the house, the more prims you'll use to fill it up with basic furniture...Which means the less prims you'll have left over to decorate it and put your personal touches to it to make the house look less empty and blah... you'll want your house to feel like a home, not a mere shelter. Make sense?
  4. Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes... If you've got over 1000 prims/objects that you'd like to grab & move... for example, your house, all the furnishings, and the landscaping... is there a fast way of grabbing everything to move them together, kind of like an SL version of CTRL-A to select all that's on the parcel? I have 2 adjoining parcels and I'd like to flip-flop everything from one parcel to the other. I figured that it would be easier to just grab everything and swing 'em 180 degrees to swap 'em. LOL Another thing to note is that I do have neighbors, and when I try to grab stuff -- I end up grabbing their stuff too.. which isn't very neighborly. So if there's a way to grab everything on my parcel only -- or any tips/advice you can offer, that would be great!
  5. I'm not sure I understand... Here's what I have, but it keeps giving me a syntax error on line 14 (touch start). default{ touch_start(integer total_number) { llSetTexture("pic1.png",1); llSetText("msg1", <0,0,1.0>, 1.0); llSetTexture("pic2.png",1); llSetText("msg2", <0,0,1.0>, 1.0); }}touch_start(integer num){ llSetTexture(llList2String(gMy_photos,gCount), 1); llSetText(llList2String(gMyCaptions,gCount),<1.0,1.0,1.0>, 1.0); ++gCount; // Here's your global integer counter if (gCount == llGetListLength(gMy_Photos) ) { gCount = 0; }}
  6. If you own a Linden home and teleport home through the website, it will take you to your Linden home. But the "Home" button on your Viewer is not set to automatically use the same place/position as the website offers. To set your "Home" button on the Viewer so that it takes you to your Linden home, you'll have to actually: stand in the exact spot within your Linden home where you'd like your "home" button to take you to go to your Viewer's menu and choose "World > Set Home Here" to save the spot as your "Home". Now test it by walking to another spot (go outside or down the road) and then click on the "Home" button of your Viewer. I suggest you create a Landmark & save it in your inventory, in case you do change/reset your Home button to another place... plus you can share the landmark with your friends. Now, if you change your Linden home or decide to get rid of it, or if you move to a different home (or purchase land elsewhere), you will have to redo the above steps again for your new place, otherwise -- everytime you click on your "Home" button, it'll take you back to the original place you had set, and the new owners/renters probably wouldn't be too happy to see some outsider suddenly appear in what is now "their" house.
  7. I'm new to scripting so please bear with me... This will sound simple to probably everyone but me! LOL I'd like to create a rectangular prim that displays a photo and a hovertext that gives some info regarding the photo on display. Upon click, the texture should change to the next one in its inventory, and the hovertext should change as well to describe the 2nd photo. Another click, another pic... Until it's back to the 1st pic & cycles thru the list. I have figured out how to display a multi-line hovertext (the colors are still driving me bonkers), I have figured out how to display a texture on one side of a prim... But I can't figure out how to make both hovertext & texture display together, and then have both change upon click/touch. Could someone show me how to create such a script? Thanks in advance!
  8. Robbin, I was debating on whether I really wanted to post links to the skyhomes... I wanted to limit/control who I give the links out to so that renters won't have a ton of unwanted guests stopping in because they saw the ad. Make sense? Anyways, I see you own your own property management group so I'm not really sure why you'd be interested to rent when you own... So what kind of rental are you looking for exactly?
  9. Hi everyone! I have 4 skyhomes for rent on the mainland... it's an ocean parcel with void/protected oceanfront. The homes are fully furnished & they're not like skyboxes, because these homes have porches/patios and/or pools outside so it doesn't feel caged in. You get additional prims with your furnished home and can remove the included furnishings if you prefer to use your own. The homes have security features built-in, as well as the ability to open/dim/close windows, doors, lighting, & change the scenery as well. If interested, please feel free to IM me for details! (IMs will go to my email if I'm offline.) Thanks!

  11. Ok, now that everyone has had their say in trying to sway you from a Linden home... The bottom line is that you asked for a home that was log cabin style or perhaps like the Shire, or some sort of woodsy/fantasy theme. Correct? The 2 Linden Home themed areas that come to mind is Elderglen (fantasy) and Tahoe (cabin). To see what some of the areas look like in-world, start at their infohubs & make your way through the surrounding neighborhoods: Tahoe Infohub: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Tahoe%20Springs/146/116/29 Elderglen Infohub: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Elderglen/139/159/30 Take a look around, fly farther out to see the actual Linden Homes... Personally, I found some unrented/unlocked ones in the area, opened their doors, and took a look around to see if it would best suit my needs. That was how I chose which layout was best for me. Just remember that you can't really do much outside the home (except on any porch-like areas attached) & that not all homes have windows you can look out of. In the end, you only get 117 prims -- so don't fall for the biggest house in the theme you like, because that'll mean that you've gotta fill it up somehow while staying within your prim limit -- so you'll end up with a sparsely furnished house full of low-quality stuff if you're not careful. It's much easier to furnish a smaller home with both quantity & quality items, all for only 117 prims. Another plus is that you can select a linden home & try it out, and if you decide it's too hard or awkward to furnish or you don't like the layout or neighborhood, you can abandon it & get a different one. (I've abandoned/reselected 4 houses within 2 days, just trying to decide which style I liked best. LoL) If you want to see some pictures of the various home styles available in the different themes, you can log into the SL website and take a look at them there... And then see if you can find one in-world (near the infohubs) & get a real close look at what you'll be getting. You can browse the selection of homes here: https://land.secondlife.com/en-US/lindenhomes/land-selection.php Note that the page won't always list/display all the available home styles for the chosen theme... For instance, I had to reload the page several times (over two days) while browsing Meadowbrook themed homes to finally get "The Grayson" home displayed on the list as an available style. I got lucky & got a home that was right next to (a void) ocean too! So anyways... I hope the above info was helpful. If you want more info on Linden Homes, here's a good starting point: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Homes/ta-p/700103 And yah, like others have said -- you can get a parcel that's much bigger & provides more freedom to do a lot of things... But then, you're also looking at spending more money. I have a mainland parcel (8192 sqm) for my "zen" home surrounded with lots of open space & greenery, but I still have my Linden Home to go back to, and I do so often. P.S. - I have 4 skyhomes for rent, 2 of which are cabin/woodsy-like, if you're interested. Otherwise, good luck on your house-hunting quest!
  12. Hi there! I have 4 skyhomes available for rent -- I've just finished putting them up actually... I prefer calling them skyhomes instead of skyboxes, coz you can go outside the house & onto your porch/patio, pool, etc & not feel so caged in like you do in a skybox... You have space around the home to landscape/garden if you wish. But the homes are still in a box -- an environment-surround box of sorts, so you can change the scenery/view if you wish. The homes are furnished & comes with built-in security. I offer 60 prims to go with the home so that you can add to the furnishings/decor as you please... and you're welcome to rearrange or remove the furnishings & use your own if you prefer. The skyhomes are located over a mainland ocean parcel with void/protected water in front of it. I've got a li'l tiki hut set up on the water for residents to use, and an ocean reef about 20m+ underwater. I have my own home set up in the sky as well, and I don't mind renters/residents stopping by place to hang out & use the campfire, yoga mats, massage table, etc. If this sounds like something you're interested in, let me know via IM. Finding a skybox you like can be tedious & time-consuming, but finding a home that feels like home -- well, you might find that right here. Either way, good luck in your search!
  13. I have several computers/laptops, one of which has WinXP & the other has Win7 - both integrated graphics... and both can run SL without crazy lag. It took some settings/options tweaking though to get it working perfectly without sacrificing too much quality. First of all, I'd verify the laptop can run Second Life. Rather than compare the laptop specs to SL specs, just go to this online (free) test: www.srtest.com . It will test not just graphics, but also RAM/memory & such. Find Second Life in the list of games on that site, and it'll show you the minimum & recommended hardware needed for SL, & whether the laptop passed, & where the laptop falls on the chart. If the laptop passes, then tweaking settings/preferences is your next step. The biggest lag factors are the ones you should tweak first, namely anything to do with physics (avatar & prim), lighting/particles, & scripting. Also, are they pressing keys but the avatar isn't moving at all (like it's a keyboard disconnect?), or the avatar moves but lag or something makes it appear to move slowly/hardly at all? Coz sometimes a keyboard remap or keyboard/gaming profiles have an effect on movement, even your font/DPI settings can affect movement -- like the crazy nonstop-spinning-in-first-person issue. Post more details on the problem/symptoms & I might be able to offer more help in return. Good luck to your friend!
  14. Thanks for all the offers/replies in-world and here, but I have finally found what I was looking for.
  15. You can always abandon your Linden home, and then use the 512sqm tier you freed towards the other land you have now... perhaps rent a mixed parcel that allows residential & light commercial & make a home-based business place, or put your biz on the land & your home in the sky..? If you decide later on that you miss your Linden home, you can always get one again but it won't be the same one you had.
  16. Hi everyone, I'd like to buy (not rent) a waterfront mainland parcel that's roughly 4096sqm (no greater than this tier if possible), preferably NOT surrounded by clubs or skyscrapers and basically anything that's an eyesore. LOL if you have a mainland parcel that's larger than this I'd consider it if the price is good -- but really all I need is 4096. If it's for sale at a good/fair price, please reply to this post with the SLurl and your asking price so that I can take a look and see if it's something I'm looking for. You can send me a notecard with this info if you like, but chances are that will get capped/blocked so this forum is the preferred method of contact. Thanks!
  17. Not sure about iPad, but I was able to find a paid app for my Android smartphone called "Lumiya". It allows me to do a lot of the features in SL, such as see the 3D world, access inventory, chat, etc. (It also happens to be listed on SL's 3rd party viewer list.) Is it possible that something similar was created for the iPad by someone other than LL?
  18. Actually, I was told that what you do in your LL home is your business... and yes, this was within the last few weeks -- as I myself, just got an LL home. I wanted SL support to clarify on a few things because I found it confusing that the LL homes I've explored were on Mature continents, yet people had Adult stuff/acts in them... and I didn't know if any SLex furniture could then technically be rezzed onto Mature land or if this was a violation. Who wants to spend money, shopping for furniture to use in their new LL home, only to discover that you can't rez/use it! The way it was explained to me was that anything that occurs outside the home and within the protected land around LL homes were rated Mature, which does allow basic nudity. (See Maturity ratings for more details.) Basically, inside the home's boundaries (behind closed doors) -- a Linden home owner is allowed to have/do Adult rated stuff, as long as the parcel/home is marked Mature & isn't open to the General public -- and still falls within the covenant of course. Etiquette would probably dictate that the Adult LL home owner should close their curtains/blinds to do as they please, or else the neighbor can close their own curtains/blinds so they don't see what the Adult neighbor is doing (and stop camming them). There is no mention of breedables being banned from Linden Homes. If it's believed that the LL homeowner is breeding for income, there's still no wrongdoing as long as the home is not treated as the storefront for that income. There's nothing in the covenant that says they can't breed those things in the LL home, then sell them elsewhere. Here's some food for thought, per the FAQ: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Adult_Content_FAQ "Adult activities cannot be advertised or publicly promoted on Moderate land. Such activity must occur privately, behind closed doors on Moderate land (see below), and is forbidden on General land. These restrictions apply regardless of whether the parcel has hidden avatars." ...and... "What does "behind closed doors" mean? Adult activity on Moderate land must be conducted "behind closed doors," meaning that you must make every reasonable effort to ensure that the parcel is private. This means: Allow only a group or specific individuals access to the parcel. If it is group-access only, the group must not be freely open to join. Hide avatars (turn off avatar visibility) for the parcel. Enclose the area behind walls or other visual barriers." ...Now, one could argue whether a window counts as a "visual" barrier. If you can see the window (even if it's set to the Linden transparent version that has no blinds or curtains shown), then doesn't it technically act as both a visual and physical barrier? *The things I ponder in SL*
  19. Uhm... sorry, just that I wasn't sure how to approach..? Not sure that I'm shy, although I've been called that. I'm not shy with my (very teensie circle of) friend(s), but that's also coz we know each other well & accept each other as-is. The only prob is that they are here for a different reason (& different times) -- they are into the adult/bdsm stuff that I don't really want to get into nor be exposed to, so that means we have to "schedule" our meet ups so that I'm not being TP'ed into shock. LOL That said, friends who wanna hang where that crap isn't in your face, can be refreshing. Cursing doesn't offend me & isn't what I consider "adult", I'm more or less staying away from the nudity & slex. So if you're lame or dorky or a total doofus, I'd like to hang out & explore the creative spaces of SL!
  20. I'm not into superficial friendships either, nor am I much for small talk but it IS a necessity with forming new friendships... thatsaid, you're welcome to contact me or hunt me down. I'm a Taoist, a blogger of personal life experiences, and a noob Linden Home owner. You're welcome to visit my SL home any time (no need to wait for me to be online), if you need a place away from some of the chaos/craziness. LoL
