I'll just throw in my two cents, though i'm by no means a great tech guy. I have a Samsung laptop, i 3 that was fairly low in cost. I know its not the top of the line by any stretch, uses on board graphics etc. I use it for SL on both my home system (wireless G) and my Verizon wireless ( 4G--if I can find a 4 G area) I use a step above the lowest graphics level, and so far it runs nice and smooth and the quality is pretty decent. I'm not saying you can run it at ultra or get 60 fps, but what I have is certainly of decent quality and it runs nice and smooth. I'd say yes you can run it ok on wireless.

I think you'll find in pretty easy to rent a skybox for low money on SL. I've seen many listed for low prices, so something like that would probably be ideal for you. You don't even need to be a premium member. Not sure why certain people get such a thrill out of taking pot shops at us Americans. If we sugar coat things we are just being polite. I guess to some people thats a sign or weakness or simply beyond their comprehension. Don't worry about people who troll to draw attention to themselves. Thankfully most people in SL are above that.

Well, luckily my store isn't heavily involved in graphics and uploading and all. I was able to make the basic sign and save as a PNG, upload it to SL and its currently in my textures. I think my big question is how to a get it out and put in on my store front. Basically I have the emply store, want to put a sign in my window announcing my store is coming soon. Just not sure how to get the sign texture out and put in on my store window.

I just rented a shop in a shopping center in SL. I have quite a bit to learn for sure, but one thing thats an issue is creating a sign--something to put up just to let people know my store is "coming soon." Anyone can explain to me how this is done. I think its clear the sign itself is made in Photoshop or another graphics program, but as far as saving it and so forth, what would it be saved as for SL? Any help is appreciated.

Looking for a good sized adult zoned property, either sim sized or at least half a sim sized. Does not need to be a lot of prims, could get by with 2000 or less, just looking for the size. Want something not terribly expensive, as I'm just getting started and don't want to go overboard price wise.

I just opened a group, but when I did I didn't have a texture to add for the group, go I ended up using the generic people cut out SL offers. Now I have a good texture made up, but I'm not sure how to add it. I can change the text and all, but how do you update the texture (the picture people see when they check the group)?

Looking for an adult zoned property, 8000 s mtrs or so, 900 or more prim. I would like something unzoned, that would allow me to do light commercial activities. Basically looking for a home base for my group, might have weekly get togethers for members (could be 15 people or so) but usually not to many people there. Would like something not to expensive.

I've been thinking of opening my own sim, based on a rp concept of mine. I don't think I would need a full Sim area. I could probably get buy just as well on 1/4 of that, perhaps a half sim size maximum. I would probably want it to be in either an adult zone or at least mature zone, as it deals with some mature themes. I basically need something where I could set up a night club and be able to invite people over for parties/events, probably collect some funds via tip jars or even have some merchants set up places there to sell their goods. I actually think I could get away with doing most of what I plan on a skybox sized lot that I am currently renting, which is zoned adult anyway -- but I'm not sure if I would be allowed to host an event there or have people selling items or collecting funds with the tip jars. Basically I'm trying to do it on the relative cheap, but also do it properly and not break any rules and wind up in trouble. Any advice owuld be helpful. thanks

I was thinking of creating a SL group, based on an RP story I'm doing on SL. I was thinking of creating a website as a sort of reference area for this. Basically all the actual rp stuff happening on SL, but stuff like character biographies, some flash fiction short stories and information not easily translater on SL would be placed there. Would that be something that might be a problem with SL or a violation of the TOS? The goal is not to use SL to recruit people for a different website, just to have something available as a reference that people can glance at while particupating in the actual roleplay as SL.

I'm curious as to how someone starts a group on SL. I know there are plenty of them out there, as I get note cards and IMs from them all the time. How do I start a group?

It would be pretty stupid to change the name. Do you think McDonalds is suddenly going to change names, or Microsoft? Why should SecondLife. These companies spend a ton of money developing their brand, why would they switch it to something no one knows? As far as Porntopia or other remarks aimed at questioning the social mores of the site, I'm pretty happy that stuff is available on SL. Now I use the word "available" strategically. If someone is interested in that sort of thing, and is an adult, then they can participate in it. If not, they are under no obligation to. I love the fact SecondLife allows people to do things there that they obviously can't in RL. I think thats its biggest attraction. People can be anything from Vampires to Roman Gladiators and its all good. To me SecondLife provides a level of freedom I would never be able to experience in RL,. Its the main reason I'm online there as often as I am.

I've seen some female avatars that look a lot bigger than what we can make the standard ones suppled by SL. Is there any place that someone can recommend to get an avatar for a really massive female? I'm looking to make an obese woman, very large, broad shoulders and intimidating. Also, is the musculature something that comes from the skins or the shapes?

Actually its not a Galaxy phone, just a MP3 player. It has the touch screen and runs apps, including internet and so forth, but doesnt have the phone aspect to it.

I'm picking up a Samsung Galaxy MP3 player, which uses the Android OS. The Galaxy supposedly runs the internet, so I was wondering if there's an App for Second Life there, or if I could download Second Life viewer and use it. The Galaxy itself isn't ideal, only a 5 inch screen and obviously a far cry from an Ipad, but just to have to option to log in when I'm on the road would be fun. Anyone know if this could even handle Second Life?

I registered at SL about a year ago, created a cool avatar and now find myself spending a lot of time here. My biggest problem is probably my user name. I thought it was good at the time, but I'd like to use the same name I have for my avatar--or something close to it. Is it possible to change it? I know I can change my avatars name once a week, but what about the actual users name?

I'm in a group on Bloodlines, but I was to quit it. Its a family clan that I've since left, yet still get combarded with IM notifications from them. Is there a way to just delete it and be done with it?

I have an avatar, but I know some of the merchants sell complete avatars that are of better quality than the pre made selections when you first join SL. Can anyone recommend a merchant that sells high quality avatars? I am looking for an Asian female avatar. It could even be just a shape, as I usually get my skins seperately, but ideally an all in one package would be preferable. I just want something thats of good quality/realistic.

I've seen a few Youtube videos made from SL, so I'm wondering if there is a special software used to record these. I know people can take snapshots from the site, but to actually record a video from it is interested. Anyone know how this is done?

I'm new at this so please bear with me. I've made some animations using poser, and was wondering if they could somehow be ported into SL. Ideally, i'd be able to work them into a pose ball type project, but I have no clue on how to further this idea. Is there a tutorial on this sort of thing? I'm probably way out of my league with my limited knowledge, but maybe there are some animation for idiots tuits available.

I think I had stumbled over an option to change the texture on an attire. For example, I'd like to make a leotard and give it an animal print texture (cheetah) and I havent really seen anything like I have in mind in the marketplace. I thought I saw something where you could select the attire, then select a different texture. Is this do able or di I have to find something with a premade texture?

Problem solved. I double checked my preferences, and in the graphics it was set to high. I didn't pay a lot of attention to this, but to compare I checked the settings on my other computer--where it runs well--and that was set to low. So I changed this to low and it moves much better. The walk is now normal and its running like it did on the other computer, so life is good, Another dumb question, but is anyone running it at high or ultra level? I'm just curious if there are laptops out there that are powerful enough to run this program at a high setting and still have it run smoothly.

SL still runs slow as hell. Its really noticible when my avatar is walking, like she's moving at 5 fps or something--very non smooth. I did notice my new laptop doesn't really have a video card, it just sells Intel HD graphics, so I guess its something build right into the motherboard. I'm sure its within the specs to run SL, but it doesn't run it well.

I am using wifi for the laptop. I have two computers, one of which is wired directly to my router, the other (the laptop) that uses the wifi. I had been using the older laptop (Toshiba, black splotches) which was able to run fairly smoothly albiet with the frequent image degradation, so I switched to the brand new Samsung, which last night was going pretty slow. I should point out from time to time I experience similar slowness on my wired connection desktop, so maybe it was just a problem with the server. I also probably need to load the latest java and flash software. The laptop is new, but for all I know it was on the shelf at the store for a month or doesn't even come with flash or java loaded. I will fiddle with it later tonight, also check out the other suggestions. I'm hoping its resolved, because the Samsung is a pretty nice laptop all around. Would love to have it run SL well.

I don't know if its just laptops, but I've been having some problems with SL as of late. I had been using a Toshiba laptop--newer model, maybe a year old. I was always getting big black splotches that would pop up on the screen every minute or so. They only lasted a split second, but got annoying after a while. I tried it on my other laptop, a brand new Samsung, and so far no splotches. However--and this was just last night--things were really slow moving, you couldn't walk the avatars properly, etc. Maybe it was a bad time or the site was just slow. Were they doing maintenance last night?
