I was toying around with the idea of opening a store as a way of making a few extra Lindens, and was wondering if it would be possible to market short stories or even novels on SL. I havent seen many bookstore open on the site, but if it is possible it might be fun to try.

I've been able to purchase Lindens in the past, but last night and this morning I keep on having difficulty buying them Is there a problem online?

I made my first avatar, and decided to create a second one. Now I saved my first one as an outfit, so I imagine all I have to do is click that outfit and it will come back to the original avatar. I saved the second as an outfit as well, but I'm curious if there is anyway I could give it a different name. It would be kind of awkward to have two different looking avatars with the same name.

Well, after I did it my avatar only had half a skull, the rest was invisible. It looked like someone cut off half her head lol. Very weird. Just glad it all came back when I put on the new hair.

I made a mistake in editing my avatar yesterday, opting to detach the skull when trying to remove the hair that came with my avatar. The mistake appears to have resolved itself when I applied the new hair, but I'm curious how to re-attach a body part--like the skull--after detaching it. I always see the detach option, just not a reattach.

Well, I now know what a Prim is. Thanks to everyone who replied, and to the obnoxios guy for providing a little entertainment. The reason I asked the question here rather than in world is because I was in the middle of three twelve hour shifts at work and I don't have access to SL on those computers. I can access the forums, but not the viewer so I can't get in world. I was just curious so I thought i'd ask. I didn't realize it would lead to any drama or drive some poor soul from Holland into a maniacal rage. My bad. It is absolutely true if I spent more time searching the data base here I could probably find all the answers I'm looking for. I could also just ask and actually interact with real people and get the same info, but I guess thats a personal choice. I'm not planning on building anything, but I saw the term around quite a lot so I was just interested to know what it might be. Now I do.

I just figured the easiest way to find out would be to ask. I've done a little research, but havent really gotten into Second Life with the idea of building anything. I just liked the roleplay option of it. I just started looking at land and saw prims mentioned quite a few times, so thought I'd ask. I did google prim, but that didn't get me anywhere. I probably should have googled "Second Life Prims", but whatever.

The new guy here again. I'm curious what are prims? I've been looking at potentially buying a second life house, and I've seen the term bounced around here and there...not sure what it is? Also HUD? No idea what it is, but it seems to be important.

This might be a really stupid topic, especially since I'm posting on a Second Life forums boards, but I'm really enjoying my time in the place. I was refered to Second Life a year or two ago. I registered my account, walked in for about fifteen minutes, but didn't stay. I guess its because I really had absolutely no idea of what I was doing--and clearly no idea of what I was missing. I came in the general entrance, walked around a bit, then left. For whatever reason I saw Second Life mentioned on another board, and came back and spent a little more time. I'm glad I did! The place is absolutely amaxing. I spent hours on it on Thursday, then got stuck working double shifts Saturday and Sunday at work. I can't wait to get back there on Sunday. I love the numerous enviornments and the free roaming. There are all these places, everything from virtual wrestling communities to vampire communities and so much more. I get to go shopping for different attires--heck there's even a writers area that recently opened. Unbelieveable, So anyway, very cool place. I'm sure as I get more into the swing of things I'll be there daily. I've already refered a few friends. Love Second Life.

What does AO stand for? Is it just a setting? Where do I find "sandlots" I entered sandlots in the search bar, as evidently I need to go to a vacant one to open items, but nothing seems to come up. Everytime I try to open something on property it says I cant do it because the owner doesnt allow it. Many thanks.

Thanks again. I'll do that when I get home from work and see what happens. BTW, what is "type killer?" I notice when I chat, the hands on my avatar move like they are typing. Someone said I should get a free type killer to stop that, but I tried searching for type killer and I'm not finding anything. I dont have this problem for IMs, just regular chatting. Lots of questions I know.

Thanks for the advice. A few more questions if I may. You said I could have a second avatar, keep it in storage and just switch it out if I wanted to do that. I'm not sure how I'd do it. For example, I recently purchased a complete avatar figure, but I can't even figure how to get her out of the box lol. Everytime I click it I get this box on my arm, I detach it and still get nothing. I don't know how to open the box and gain access to the figure. Does it somehow go in my inventory, in some catagory where I can simply click it and switch to the new figure? It would be good to just switch from time to time, but I'm lost as to how to do that. I just heard the term "rebirth." not even sure it was used properly. I hear a lot of new stuff--rezing for example--and I'm clueless lol. I'm loving my experience here at second life so far, but there's a bit of a learning curve for us new people.

Sorry for asking silly questions, but I've only been active on Second Life for two days and I'm confused on a few things. 1) Is Premium worth it? I was thinking of getting a house and putting furniture and so forth in it, and to my understanding if you are a member of premium they give you a house, so it might be a good thing to do. Are there any other benefits to premium? 2) Can you have more than one avatar (character for rping) or would I have to open a second account if that were the case? 3)What is meant by "rebirth?" thanks in advance.
