  2. Selling a moderate zoned property. Plot is flat, a few near by stores so retail is a possible. Want to sell today so dropping price to 3600 L. Nice flat land, commercial possibility with even a view of the water, A good deal at this price, if interested its set for anyone to by. Will abandon if not sold by Tuesday. SWL MainStore, Archon (96, 44, 47) - Moderate
  3. The teleporter I've used on my arena complex, which includes a few skyboxes located up to 1600 feet in the sky, was free on the marketplace. Its a very inconspicuous stand (looks like a small pose stand) and easily will allow customers to transfer from floor to floor. I've used 2 or three different onces and all have cost little or nothing and all work fine. My advise is to just do a simple marketplace search for teleporter and try a few out. If you don't like it you can always delete it. Most are pretty good.
  4. Title tells it all, Selling a smaller lot, 4096 meters flat grass and rock terrain. Mature rated sim, would be a nice place for a secluded home/log cabin. Looking for 5000 L or bro. Hope to sell quick. A little over 1000 prims on the lot. Feel free to message me here or IM in world if interested.
  5. For some reason when I get an IM with a notecard attached, I click to read the notecard and nothing happens. I can't access it, can't find it in inventory. I use the Firestorm viewer and have also had the same issue with the Linden viewer. I try to read them, but there not showing. Is there maybe a setting I need to have selected for get those? Not sure what is going on.
  6. The problem seems to have resolved. I was able to get online last night, I did crash once or twice but nothing like the previous evening. All I can think is that I must have been on during some service in my region. Regardless it does seem to work now. Thanks for all the help suggestions and advice. It was frustrating when it happened, but alls well that ends well.
  7. I started using the Firestorm viewer, which I have upgraded to the latest version about two weeks ago. I was on for maybe 5 minutes, then things froze, I couldnt go anything for about a minute or two, then got the message "darn, looks like you logged out" (or something similar to that.) I have had crashes before, so I just relogged a few minutes later, the same thing happened after a few minutes. I relogged, then tried to tp to a new area, and when tping it just got very slow, as it the line indicating the progress wasnt moving, then the message SL isnt responding. I uninstalled the viewer and reinstalled the latest firestorm viewer, relogged and after maybe 5 minutes I met a friend and started chatting via IM. Maybe 5 more minutes and suddenly things froze, then I got the message i'd been logged out again. I relogged, same thing happened. I then went to the SL viewer and tried, again crashing maybe 10 mintes into thing. I think this time I tried switching my avatars outfit and it froze and crashed. I did get a message after loggng in a new viewer (or update was available and I selected to install next time i logged in. Five minutes later I crashed, so reloged. The new viewer installed, then froze and crashed about five minutes in. I relogged and again crashed after just roaming about ten minutes. I uninstalled the viewer completely, reinstalled the latest version and relogged. Once again meeting a different friend, chattng, then crashing (the screen freezing, then the message i'd been logged out.) I quit at that point. Just got so frustrated I left my initial angry vent here. I am using a new HP laptop and connecting via a Verizon mobile hotspot. I realize this is not the ideal connection (wireless would be better) but its worked like a charm thus far. My computer is AMD 1-8 with 6 GB memory. Been able to run on high at a good frame rate for a while now. Windows 8.
  8. It's just very frustrating. I can't provide much technical data outside of "darn...looks like you've been logged out" message I got every ten minutes or so after crashing. I use the same computer I've been using for two months now--and its a new computer so it's not like i'm trying to log on via some dinasaur set up. I just had crash after crash. I got to speak to a friend or two during the crash-a-thon and they said they were having similar problems. I'm not even going to bother logging in today. Hopefully the technical wizards in Linden Labs will be able to find out the problem and resolve it. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope things work better in a day or two. Thanks to anyone who posted advise. I think I checked most all of those fixes last night and didn't have any luck. I'll look at it a little later and hopefully there's something there I overlooked that will resolve the problem.
  9. The title pretty much explains my frustrations at the moment. Tonight so far i've crashed at least ten to fifteen times. I've used both the SL viewer and the Firestorm version of SL. I uninstalled both, did a reinstall, and still crash with the new ones. I don't know what's going on, but its really frustrating. I'm not sure if i'm the only one dealing with this, but its not a good impression to make--especially with the new Linden CEO just starting. I kind of hope that person tries to log in and gets to experience the same stuff i've dealt with all night. Maybe a new programmers looking for work in the morning hopefully.
  10. 1024 meters, moderate rated. Looking for a quick sale at 1500 L. Will consider reasonable offers, feel free to IM me in world. Sarcee (81, 35, 16)
  11. looking to get rid of this property to lower my tier. 27,000 sq meters, part land part ocean and some near protected water to assure a nice ocean view. A very nice mainland area, selling for 18000 L or best offer. I might be able to subdivide if need be, would prefer to see out right as is. I will be abandoning this land fairly soon, so if interested please feel free to IM me.
  12. ty, i thought i was saving it in blv, but a closer look showed it was being saved in something else. I exported it and switched to blv, then finally was able to make and upload my first sl animation. baby steps, but a start. ty again
  13. I am new to animation, so likely my issue is fairly common. I just installed PoserPro 2014, and made a short animation (maybe 2-3 seconds) and I'm having trouble loading it into SL. I downloaded the avatar mesh files, and I used them for the figures. I have two figures in a couples pose, and this is basic ally just a static pose to test if I run into a problem loading it. I extended the pose for about 2 seconds or so, then exported it as a .blv file to my desktop. When I tried to load it I got the error message "can not read root file. Use "hip" Not sure what to do. I did select "hip" as the body part in both figures, but again being a novice hopefully someone can shed a little light on this. Any help greatly appreciated.
  14. I just want to throw in my vote of disagreement on the HP laptop comment. I've owned both HP and Toshiba and HP is much, much superior IMO. I recently had a similar decision in purchasing a new laptop for SL. I read all sorts of reviews and spec numbers, and finally purchased a Toshiba laptop, 4th generation i7 processor with 8 gb of ram, and INtel 4600 graphics (built into the motherboard.) I was not at all impressed, and after 2 weeks the laptop died completely. Now in fairness maybe there was a technical problem that had the laptop perform at less than its capacity, but all I know is it died 14 days after I purchased it--and (for me anyway) it was expensive. I purchased a Toshiba laptop two years ago, it never ran SL well and never really impressed me, so my negative view on Toshiba is based on those 2 instances--the only time I owned their laptops. I ended uo purchasing a AMD Quad core A8 laptop from HP with Radeon graphics (8510 I think) 6 gb of ram. It runs SL like a charm. I was getting a very smooth image on high settings right off the bat--and the kicker was this laptop only cost $400 (half the price of the Toshiba) I run SL fairly decent with my old laptop, another HP with an i3 and Intel 3000 graphics. It doesnt run as well as the new HP, but still works fine and its got a few years on it. Price, IMO, isn't the main factor. The GPU is most important, and most laptops dont have videocards. You could get a high end laptop, but I think the one i ended up with is perfect. Its not expensive, and i'm able to run SL in high settings at a very smooth rate. Im going to get the $400 I saved and apply it to a new desktop, which would be the best option anyway to run SL.
  15. Interested in checking this, but for some reason can't use these links to tp around SL anymore. So many bugs in SL these days. Can you send me a LM to it, would like to check it out.
  16. To start off, my main SL computer is a desktop using a graphics card. I know that is a better option than a laptop. However I am on the road a lot in my job, so its a convenience having a laptop to use when a desktop is not an option. I was looking at two lower priced computers, one has a 4th generation i3 processor and uses Intel 4600 graphics and the other is a quad core AMD A8 chip using Radeon 8550 G graphics. I was wondering which would be the best option? Both have 4 gb of memory--though both can be expanded to 8 gb. I'm sure some higher priced laptops offer more quality, but also budget is an issue. I did see an i7 laptop (4th generation) which has 8GB of memory, but I think it also uses Intel 4600 graphics so I'm not sure if there would be a justifiable increase in graphics between the i3 and the i7 since they both use the same 4600 graphics? Any advice would be helpful as I hope to purchase soon.
  17. I just purchased Poser Pro 2014, and following the SL website was able to download the SL avatar mesh to Poser, going so far as to even get it in my library and working! (I'm new to Poser so that's kind of a big achievement :) I also downloaded another file from the SL wiki, basically a collection of .bvh animations for SL. I wasn't successful in loading those to Poser. I tried the content, download from zip file but I'm not seeing them in the library. I also tried this method initially with the SL figures, but that didn't work either. The SL wiki does explain the route to manually place the SL figures in the proper location (c\user\public\documents\poser pro 14\downloads\libraries\character) (something like that) regardless it doesn't say where to put the .bvh files. I tried in poser, it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know the proper location to put these? I think they would be helpful for making some animations, but right now can't figure out how to access them. Thanks for any advice in advance.
  18. A lot of the rules written into SL's TOS are there basically to cover themselves from liability. SL doesnt want to be viewed as a forum that encourages the theft of intellectual property. I know that some companies check SL for instances where their logo's/trademarks have been used. I know some Trekkie issues led to the removal of some of their merchandise from the Marketplace, but most of those instances related to items sold in the marketplace. A lot of items are readily available that infringe of copyrights. Personally I would not think what you are doing is such a big problem. I doubt Beyonce or her "people" are watching to be sure no one has a avatar named "Beyonce" on SL. I don't see them takikng action against you, basically because it wouldn't be worth their while. I have seen a few stores selling Beyonce avatars. I know "Body Doubles" has been selling avatars of various celeberties for a few years now and evidently no one has called them out on it. Unfortunately a lot of people are quick to jump down people's throats when they post something here. It isn't a good way to welcome people to a virtual community, but such is life. Welcome to SL, and hope you have a good time here.
  19. I've been having a problem when I try to take a picture for my profile. I was to take an image and post it to my feed, and in the past its not been an issue, but for the last week or so after I take the picture, enter in some comment and click to "post" the image I see the swirl thing for a while, then get the message "failed to post picture." I have been getting this all both the SL viewer and firestorm--both of which are the most current releases of the viewers. I've tried clearing cache, and still it won't work. I was thinking maybe I accidently clicked some setting I shouldnt have? Anyone having a similar problem or have an idea what might be causing this?
  20. I'm a long time Windows user, but wondering if SL would run well on a Mac computer. Any Mac users out there care to comment?
  21. As the previous post mentioned, avatar is a pretty ambiguous term. I'll go on the assumption you are talking about a human avatar, and in that case the question is do you want to physically make an entirely new avatar, or do you want to customize one of the premade ones to more accurately approach your own personal look or what you want your avatar to look like. To physically make an avatar, let me recommend a few options. I will start by warning you I have never done this, but these will likely get you heading in the right direction. The Blender.org website is used heavily in creation. It offers its software free, and with it you can make a ton of things--clothes, animations, houses, furniture--and body parts which likely include avatars. There is a add on program for Blender called Avastar, which lets you export a SL avatar into it to make clothes, animations etc. I believe it also allows you to make a avatar and import it to SL. I have never done this, so this is something you would have to look into and research. If you google avaster you will find links to their website, part of the avatars work bench. I shold say that its not a free program (think about $30 US dollars) but its useful. Another interesting software is Make Human. Once again, its free and you can google it to find the website for it. It lets you make people plain and simple, and its pretty simple and a lot of fun. Youtube is a treasure trove of info and great tutorials. You can also find much info in the creations forums a few spots down from here. Hope that helps some and good luck.
