Use Blender...it's free and can do as much as any $800+ software bundle. hmm a lot of assumptions and out right meaness. Actually Im using it to print in 3D for a very specail cause. I actully think people who just call others a "true fool" without knowing anything may need to reevaluate. Be nice. It makes for a happier life.

  5. Becky Shamen wrote: I tried the new fewer today. After only 2 hours, I dumped it and went back to the previous version, which is the second worst viewer LL has yet to make. The interesting thing about the latest viewer was that is cut my speed, from an all time high FPS to the slowest I have ever seen. The video said it was the last of the improvements that they will make. I can only assume their goal is to chase all their users away. Interesting. This is what I get 36fps. I have found that the viewer represents SL water in a way that is not nearly as beautiful as say Singularity. Also seeing some color anomalies around skin matching. However I'm addicted to the near field priority rezzing. Even Willies and Tempura rez fast and they can be tough places to visit. Don' think I can go back.

I curse the devs every time I have to deal with what has to be the worst sellers software ever "designed". have a few items up and I agree. I'm sure LL would love more revenue, this seems like an easy way to get more $$.

Why is MP so slow? Have a new high-end MAC and my speed test a few mins ago was 61Mbs down 12Mbs up at 10ms ping. Tried Safar, Chrome, and Firefox. Other commerce sites I go to blow marketplace away. I might spend more money if not so cumbersome. Please santa for Christmas a fast marketplace? :) :)

In my own experience, I haven't seen a single client buy the demo version and the full version. It seems the customers who buy the full version just go for it without trying the demos, and the ones buying the demos don't buy the full version Weird no ? In my case we're talking about shapes - the demo version is of course no modify and has abnormally large hands, arms. I'm thinking of dropping the demo versions if that continues What do you think? what's been your experience Same for me. I think i need bigger demo worded boxed lol.

  14. FD Spark wrote: At this point I can't even figure out how to open a dae or obj file and actually use blender. Maybe when I figure out how to actually use blender without wanting to rip what little is left of my hair and I will check out Avastar, I spent several hours trying last night to do something and I couldn't get even files I wanted open in wings 3d. Tried it in Blender and I think I got file to open but I couldn't figure out how to navigate there. Need read and watch more videos, practice more too I guess. Plus I got to figure out this whole avatar bone thing. Thanks for the help. I hate BLender with a passion but use it because of the tutorials SL people have posted. To get a DAE/ or OBJ into Blender you Import it not open it. When Blender opens hit X to delete the box thats there, then File - Import When not rigging making things that are like objects, I just import OBJs and exportto DAE. For some reason Blender does a better job of exporting to DAE so I dont get errors uploading to SL as often. Mesh Rigging and weighting with Avastar http://blog.machinimatrix.org/avastar-5-mesh-rigging/ Uploading a model to SL (you have to do the SL.com mesh agrement to be able to do this) http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Uploading-a-mesh-model/ta-p/974185#Section_.4 To upload to the beta grid so it's free while your testing uploads use the Aditi Grid (have to do the mesh agrement again) http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh
  15. Cerise Sorbet wrote: It does bring faster frame rates with it, but not so much in the relatively static situations people tend to use when trying to benchmark things. It is going to be a quality of (second) life kind of thing, wherer the world eventually feels bigger because it's more pleasant to go out there. The viewer uses object-object occlusion to decide what to render. If there is a solid wall between the camera and some trees, the viewer can skip rendering those trees. This only works if the viewer knows the wall is there, and these changes are about telling the viewer about that wall sooner. With the old setup, the viewer would waste time rendering those trees until the wall rezzed, making the wall take even longer to rez. Substitute blinged-out avatars in the next room or giant rows of vendor textures in a mall and we can see where this is going. That in turn means that the initial arrgh when teleporting to a new place not yet in cache can be shorter, and the viewer can spend less time uselessly grinding when walking/flying/riding around a region. So, while this change isn't really taking a stab at peak frame rates, it will allow the viewer to approach those peaks more often. Well said. Aside from the details of this box or that, I find it more relaxing to use. Instead of going to a new store and stand there for 5 minutes waiting for the boards to rez while something across the room is rezzed fine, even though Im not over there yet, I see what i want to see when Im there. If it remains stable then its fun to use.
  16. Just tried this and so far its a serious improvement for me and Im very grateful to LL for doing this. Was able to race at top speed and visit very high lag sims and people were not gray for 20 mins. Everyone rezzed for me quicly. On a MAC. The video explains why this is so much faster. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Speedy-Delivery-Introducing-the-Project-Interesting-Viewer/ba-p/2328615 Thank you so much LL.
  17. BTW in order to do meshes on any of these programs be it clothes, skins or whatever does it need something other than uploading to second life? I see lot about Avastar is that program really required for Blender and avatar meshes? Clothes have to be rigged with bones so they move. Avastar makes it easy.
  18. FD Spark wrote: Thanks for responses. Its nice knowing you're still around Chosen Few. I paying all fricking money for CC and I keep running into walls perhaps brain isn't rezzing properly. I am not sure if I got proper uvs or not. I have obj dae files that I want to draw on even though I bought a book on blender I still don't understand it. Thanks too NealCruz, I hope I am spelling your name correctly I can barely see it. I think I need to more sleep I will re-read what you guys said and try it again i've had the same hurdles over and over. Your not alone in trying to figure stuff out for hours. Personally I loathe Blender but many love it. I have a cube obj i made for photoshop i can send you to try in Photoshop so you can see textures etc. Just PM me. I did find a cube example of Blender but have not followed it. Blender tutorials drive me nuts because the menus never line up as they change them but this may help. Making really good UVs is an interesting challenge and there are many tutorials on it in Youtube. I use ZBrush but many use Blender, Maya, or other. For now I dont need super clean UVs so you may just focus on getting your creations up and then refining as you go. http://tech.pro/tutorial/757/blender-tutorial-basic-uv-mapping Heres one I did using Zbrush and Photoshop. Be glad to send you the OBJ to play with in Photoshop.
  19. SL Official viewer crashes constanatly now on Mavericks. Was stable. Also wierd typing issues when chatting. It starts opening windows in MAC OS unless I type a capitol letter in chat and then go back to normal then all is well. No music in Firestorm. Mesh uploads are ok so far.

This can either use the edge angle or edges explicitly marked sharp, or both. The angle option is a bit like generate normals in the uploader, but superior because it ignores uv seams. thank you
  21. I think Chosen Few hit all the relavent points. Here's a picture view of what i use. Below I painted on the 3d model and it shows up in 3d and visa versa as Chosen mentions. 1. To be able to move the object. Sometimes your arrow has to be outside the white box for the movement tool in 2 to work. 2. Movement tools rotate , zoom etc. 3. Paint on model directly 4. Texture you need to double click to open up 2d. I prefer to paint in 2d and look back at the 3d model for the results. just paint then click the 3d tab back and forth till you reach desired results. If the lighting bothers you you can move it by selecting the light bulb in this case just by her neck( white circle) and moveit around. Once you move it go back to area 4, double click the 3d layer and a box opens up. Click environemnt, the the 3d movement tools will be active again.
  22. Jenni Darkwatch wrote: I'm guessing most clients have them... not all export them properly though. Blender certainly does, but for simple models like that one it's also possible to just have the uploader fix it. Do you know which panel it's in in Blender? thanks
  23. thanks you between yours and Drongles explanation, I think I got it. My setting of 100,40,4 of LODs, the 4 was gtting m on a lower graphics setting iss what i think I read. Thanks again.
  24. wow, must b a math major! thanks re-reading that a few times.
  25. 100,40, and 4. Thant helped a ton thanks!
