  1. If you have nominated a physical shape, either custom or by using an existing LOD, it will rez with a physics shape of a Convex Hull. To fix the problem you need to Right click the model > Edit > Feature tab and change 'Convex Hull' to 'Prim' in the drop down menu. Why it defaults as a convex hull I have no idea, not only is it impractical, its misleading as when you change it to Prim, the PE is raised in most cases.
  2. Nice to see some more straight forward explanations of mesh, thanks

I don't want to sell stuff that might later break due to Linden changes or whatnot to how meshes are handled, and I've seen the warnings on the mesh-enabled beta test sims on main grid. I have some mesh creations basically ready to go.... but I get the feeling it is a little premature to put mesh items out for sale, is it? I want to give this responsible approach. Most residents cannot see meshes or interact with & this is a big issue for the seller & the buyer of mesh until rollout completes. Where & when might we see a solid "ALL CLEAR!" from Lindens to know it is okay to release mesh works for sale? Only when I see some message like this, then I will get my stuff released on marketplace! :matte-motes-grin: I know what you mean Wade1, I personally am waiting until its rolled out 100% across the grid and expect that will be the unofficial/official 'All Clear'. I do think there should be a very clear, seperate and defined category for meshes that pre warn users that buying said mesh products will require V2 based viewers, I have no doubt that we as merchants will be pointing this out in our descriptions but an official 'pre buy' window should pop up with that warning.
  4. I think 'mesh' is fine, its been advertised as such throughout beta, on the blogs even this forum, to change it now would only add to the confusion. People are starting to understand what mesh is, when friends are telling friends about it thay are calling it mesh. Just like everyone knows what scuplties are (which we all know has its defining differences).
  5. It definately seems stable for me, having fell in love with V1 oh so many months ago I was not-ever-in a million years going to use V2, but then meshes came so I casually downloaded it, sighed everyday for a week as it was loading up and suddenly forgot I was even on V2. Now I have it set up how I like it, I can do 'almost' everything I could do before and .. as mentioned, it runs great. My computer is fairly decent however: Win 7 5Gig Ram GTS250 AMD 5000+ Dual core.

I thought by the title you were asking all animal food to be given out free Also a great idea Somebody ought to reverse-engineer the food scripts and distribute them for free :matte-motes-evil-invert: (Just kidding. Mostly.) Reverse engineer? Does this mean you want your pets to be vomiting all over the place? Or worse, ejecting it from the other end? Excellent Idea, you could use said 'poop' to grow plants which in turn could feed pets!
  7. I saw something similair happen in 2008/09, there were alot of restaurants complaining of lower takings yet take aways were booming, its says one very clear thing, people will always want to treat themselves, if they can find a cheaper way of doing that they will, SL is good because as entertainment costs go it beats the socks off a pizza, you can get weeks of enjoyment for a £10 in SL but only 30mins from a pizza IRL. SL will be just fine
  8. Do you have rights to rez on the land your testing? I know there is a bug that wont show the model upload option if you dont. If you like you can come to my plot and try?
  9. Its looking good, its nice to see people having a go at building their own houses. One of the main important factors is the prim count, i expect you have around 234ish prims to play with, if thats the case I would consider using mega prims (can find them for free on the market place) or wait a couple of weeks, when mesh is released they are also letting you expand prims to 64m instead of the current 10m which would save you alot of prims on this kind of build
  10. I would highly suggest joining the Builders Brewery group (just search for Builders Brewery). Thats where I first went to learn how to build and they were invaluable. If you fancy jumping in at the deep end, take a look at the mesh forums, its pretty advanced stuff compared to prim building but the benefits of mesh models are potentially huge
  11. Thats true if you have enough L$ on your agni account, if you dont however Oskar is the official contact if you need more
  12. StoneDwarf wrote: My previous post (in the mesh section) was deleted, not sure why. I figured I should post it here instead. Whenever I log on to the beta grid, I have zero Lindens. How can I get more Lindens? I tried the wiki and google for an answer, but couldn't find an answer. Also, I can't enter mature sims, even though I do have paymentinfo on file. In preferences, I can only choose "general and moderate" and "general" Using the latest mesh client. Any help would be appreciated. 1. You need to contact Oskar Linden for some L$ on the beta grid although any linden can give you some. 2. If you go to your account page, you can set your account to age verified: https://secondlife.com/my/account/verification.php?lang=en-US 3. Using the latest mesh client is abit of a big question, you can download the latest version here: http://automated-builds-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/hg/repo/vir-project-1/rev/237585/index.html And find out more information about Mesh here: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh/LiveVolunteers
  13. Kelley Foxclaw wrote: Restarts mean server restarts, Magnum, etc... It seams like everytime I log into me land they have done a rolling restart. If I stop paying I lose my payed assets. Wait, so you are all not experiencing difficulty? Oh, it must just be me. Paperdoll tell me you haven't seen a problem A sim restart, you have never seen one? LOL V 2 is a piece of work. Come on your SL is a perfect world? The Magnum RC rolling restarts have been happening once a week for the last year at least, it didnt happen last wednesday as it was updated with mesh yesterday instead, however appart from that there have been no changes to the restarts. I find it hard to believe you just happen to log in only once a week on a wednesday morning at 8am? (or Thursday morning as happened yesterday) Not to mention they only go down for a few minutes. You can see the schedule for the next 50 years for the restarts here: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
  14. Have you tried this viewer? http://automated-builds-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/hg/repo/vir-project-1/rev/237585/index.html
  15. Just noticed on the Magnum and LeTigre RC updates page that today both of them will be mesh enabled. 11.08.02.237549 This is the "Mesh" project. scheduled 2011-08-04Mesh objects can be uploaded Child prims can be set to have no collision shape (do not contribute to collision of object) Objects that use the features above (mesh shapes or non-colliding parts) will have prim cost calculated based on actual impact to the parcel/region rather than simple count. Max prim scale has been raised to 64m on a side New physics engineOverhaul how collision shapes are constructed and stored in memory. 10 cm gap between colliding objects has been removed for most objects:For convex prims (dynamic and static) Concave prims (static only) For small prims ( <~0.2m on a side ) it can't be completely removed so those objects may still exhibit a gap, but it will typically be smaller than it was before the change. Parcel-full return sort order has changed: most recently "changed" get returned first, but still grouped by OTHER, GROUP, and OWNER in that order. Edit: Both these RC servers are now mesh enabled \o/
  16. Just create about 50 accounts each with thier own tree avatar, you could even have a moving forest!
  17. Coca cola as a brand name isnt limited to just beverages, they sell alot of things. The problem with a virtual world example isnt the confusion between a real beverage you can consume and that which is only a virtual 3D representation, its the implication that someone selling a coca cola product could be mistaken as being endorsed by coca cola themseleves. Imagine your 3D can of coke having a crappy texture on it, or a script that doesnt work properly, the customer contacts the creator who tells them eff orf, said customer then complains on a blog somewhere saying coca cola's customer service stinks. I know the likelyhood of such thing a happening is very remote, but its not something a company as agressive as coca cola would allow and they spend millions preventing it. Look at that company who shall not be named .. trademarking a fruit! If you can believe it. That being said, most copywrite laws are draconian not to mention many copywrite claims fall flat on thier face if they go to court, the problem is how the laws are applied, in our case Linden Labs would also be liable for endorsing copywrite breaches if they did nothing to prevent it which is why they are so agressive also taking the shoot first ask question later approach. It is abit of a pickle though, if Linden Labs were to remove some percieved copywrite material which infact was an original creation they could also be liable for that too. I sure wouldnt like to be in their position. As an example of how silly some laws are, in the near future in the UK it will no longer be illegal to copy songs you bought on a CD, onto your computer.
  18. Tested the previous build (237157) and also experienced the upload hanging. Just tried on the one you linked (237585) and the upload is working properly.
  19. For all the flak we give you guys, I do have to say I am convinced you are doing your best and working very hard to please everyone, its not a common sight but I for one am greatful for the high level participation in these forums and on the beta grid. Very much looking forward to the next few months too
  20. You also need to be a member of the Mesh Volunteer Group: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh/LiveVolunteers#Mesh_Volunteers_Group
  21. Ah bugger, I had my noggin so far inside maya I completely forgot about the meeting! Edit: Read the notes, yikes scripts are counted as a high load script regardless! Is there anyway to prevent or tag a mesh model as 'unmovable' to find some way to avoid a high cost due to the tiny small possibility that a script may be dynamic?

  23. Ugh physics shape too, thats abit silly, you cant even see the physics shape.
