I've had that happen when switching from dinkie to human. There's a moment when the cat BOM skin hangs around on the human body, which looks weird but rebakes quickly, but then even after I'm otherwise 100% human, my eyes stay like Karl there. I fix it by relogging, which has never failed to make it go away.

Relogging will undeform you too but you don;t need to rlog, just click Undeform.

Sorry I'm a bit confused myself. So, when I switch form human to furry I have to click the omega applier thingy every time to fix the deformity, When I go from furry to human I don't. I'm trying to figure out how to get it to auto fix itself without having to click the omega applier each time.

The way to fix it is to make a copy of your body. Go into your inventory and find the body in the listing, right click it and select copy. Make a sub-folder and call it "Furry body" and paste it in there. Wear the new copy only when you are furry, and the original only when you are human. You will never need to touch the applier again.

Appliers are NOTHING to do with the distortion I illustrated above. Appliers do only the skin. The distortion is the skeleton.

EDIT:: I fixed it by re-applying the baked skin applier omega thingy... why do I have to do this every time I switch between avatars? is there a way to fix it?

The way to fix this is to make a second copy of your body which you use exclusively for your Furry av. Keep two Outfits saved; one with the furry body and everythig else you need for the furry avatar, and one for the human. Then when you want to change from one to the other, just swap Outfits.

If you switch BOTH avatars to Bakes on Mesh instead of appliers, you won't need a second copy of your body, but Outfits is still the best way to change form one to the other.

Another thing you didn't mention but might help others - the newer Furry bento heads cause head distortion when returning to human.

This has to be fixed by using Undeform (or reset skeleton) from the Avatar Health menu.

I think she is lovely too, lewis. Nice work. My girl av is curvy too but you have a really natural looking shape there.

Try going to some of the beaches, because the bigger I make my avatar, it seems like the harder the random IM's hit.

    Heck,even shopping at events.

Seriously, I've been thinking about just putting a slimmer avatar together just to find some peace.. lol

I get hit on sometimes as a curvy girl, but still less often than when I was slimmer. Yes, beaches. And gyms (I do the SML gym game). I get hit on a LOT in gyms.

In place of honesty, I would say be authentic .. we all wear a little of our soul on our sleeves here and at the end of the day, that's what matters.

I like this.  If I meet someone in SL I am far more interested in what their RL personality and soul looks like, not their RL body and genitals.

While I agree, we can't totally dismiss how big of an impact it can make when our "mental image" of a person changes radically, especially when you've known the person for a long time, like years. Something as simple as hearing someone's voice (even if the expected gender stays the same) can alter my feelings toward a person, for better and for worse.

Aaand this is why I don't use or listen to voice in SL. So often when the voice doesn't match the avatar it spoils the immersion for me. I don't just mean hearing a male voice on a female avatar. But also when a young attractive avatar sounds like she's got a fifty-year, forty-a-day smoking habit. Or a strapping well-built, muscular man sounds like he's barely sixteen. Or a cute little bunny avatar sounds like a bricklayer from Birmingham.

    I think the limit is fine, provided that 2 new features were implemented;

    1) You can't get the same parcel back that you already released within the past 24 hours. (Or you can, but it won't count to your 5 tries limit).

    2) The website shows how many there are in the queue for each particular type. If there is only one, you know not to waste tries by trying again.

I've opened a feature request on the Jira for this. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-232237 and I also included @Persephone Emerald's suggestion to move newly abandoned homes to the bottom of the queue instead of the top, because I think that is an awesome idea too.

  5. By request, and since no-one else has done one yet - here's a thread for menswear - the stuff we're looking for and, hopefully, sorces where we can get it.

I'll start with my pet peeve - that there are no budget price options for mens clothing; unlike women who have many choices to get fatpacks in the L$200 to 300 price range, there doesnt seem to be similar options for men on the same budget, unless its yet another poorly made t-shirt.  The only store I know of in this price range is Caligula, which is very hit-or-miss for quality.

So, guys, get in here with your requests and let's see if the great forum hive-mind can solve all our problems!

So how come you guys don't get together and start posting images of what you'd like to see in SL on a thread of its own?

Here's an image of what I'd like to see more of in SL menswear (as long as it's not another t-shirt or tanktop)

    cooltext412580051007697.png.7896fa740acbc86c72ea5054efec2fe7.png

Most menswear stores have an extra zero added to the end of their prices.

There are many womens clothing stores in this price range but as far as I have found, only one for men.

Also - good free gifts (that are, again, not another t-shirt or tanktop).

Right, but the assumption I am making is - when you get a parcel, is the water always navigable?  Or is "your" water not navigable?

That is what my question relates to, really.  If "your" water isn't really navigable, then if "your" orb extends to the navigable water - that's bad.

It depends whether your water is adjacent to a Linden protected waterway or not.

If it is, then you can make your water navigable too, simply by not using banlines or security orbs. Leave all security off (and if you need some, build a private skybox with security turned on there).  Even better, make it open build, open script and open object entry for everyone, with an auto-return of about 5 minutes, so people can use it as a rez spot for boats, if their trip has been interrupted.  The 5 minute auto-return ensures nothing is left littering your parcel.

If your water is not adjacent to a Linden protected waterway, then you can't really make your water navigable because you're locked in by other private parcels on all sides, in which case it really doesn't matter what you do.

  8. It's funny - if a person in SL claims that in RL they are female, under 30 years old, attractive enough to be a supermodel, childless, holds a PhD in Rocket Science, lives in Monaco, is CEO of a multinational corporation, and is insanely wealthy, the only thing anyone actually want verified is the "female" part.

What if we had 3 selections of homes, and then a 60 minutes timeout from the game?

    Would you prefer that?

I am unsure myself. I would like to get rid of the 24 hour timeout. But only 3 trials when we try to get a house that someone announce they give up? Uh-oh.... Or maybe 1 try? Eeek! But it would mean that we could spread it out over a day, and overall more selections.

Would it increase the strain on the land page? @Patch Linden @Abnor Mole

  10. I'd say you look about 14-16 but our opinions hold no weight with the region owner, whether we think you look underage or not, it makes no difference. They are within their rights to ban you for any reason or no reason.

That said, "because we're afraid of being shut down" is a pathetic excuse if there is no adult furniture or adult activity. Linden Lab will not shut a place down, even in an adult region, for allowing access to a child avatar. Child avatars are allowed in adult regions provided that the person at the keyboard is 18+. The only thing not allowed is the avatar's proximity to adult activity or adult-scripted objects (including genitals, so if clothing is optional that may be the only issue).

This whole drama is why my female avatar looks nearer to 40.

  11. I've discovered a new option; www.slushe.com.

It's primarily a site for people making high quality 3d renders, but since the change in Flickrs TOS they have updated theirs to allow SL content, provided that you put it in the Second Life cateogory, which they have recently created so that non-SL users can filter out SL content. You have to opt-in to see the SL category.

NSFW? Oh yes, that's it's speciality.  It's not really a place for blogging, though there is a SFW category it doesn't get a lot of use, and it seems that regular snapshots and pics that are not of an avatar aren't the kind of content they want. This is for high quality avatar art ranging beteen "sensual" and "hard-core pornographic".

The only downside I can see is that the overall quality of content here is so high, it's intimidating.

Oh, and the annoying captchas every single time you log in.

  12. Like most people it seems, the things I most want to mod are furniture and landscaping items, plants/trees etc.  Yesterday I bought a bathroom set. The sink was as tall as me, and the toilet seat was level with my waist. If it was no-mod, it would have ended up in the trash. But, mod, so I could shrink them to fit.

People who are not willing to pay aren't the valuable customers,

This.  A person who wants to buy a L$200 mod white shirt instead of a no-mod fat-pack, so they can tint it whatever colour they want, is not going to suddenly buy the L$2000 fatpack if you make your white shirt no-mod instead. No, they are going to find a different vendor who still sells a L$200 moddable white one.

  13. Some options -

Belleza Freya - will go fairly slim with the sliders, well supported for clothing, now mod so you can rip out parts & onion layers that you don't want. There's a free optimiser on the MP somewhere that will do this.  Otherwise it's about on a par with Maitreya for complexity. Just a much nicer body IMO. Caution though - some clothing makers are starting to drop support for Freya and I think in a couple of years or so, it'll be in the same position that Slink is in now.

Lucybody - not the free midnight mania one, but one of the others they have in store. Priced at around L$1250 or thereabouts, no alpha cuts, BOM only, fits maitreya clothing and slink shoes, very low complexity. Limited funcionality compared to mainstream bodies.

Kalhene Analexa - Low complexity, fits Maitreya clothing (though not terribly well as its too slim for some).  VERY skinny - slimmer than maitreya.

    Rule out Legacy on complexity.

Any other body is either going to be massively too much curvy for you, or else it has hardly any clothing, in which case you may as well stick with Slink.

Long-term (thinking 3+ years) I think Maitreya, or a body that fits Maitreya clothing, will be the only feasible options.

the idea for anti random IM is ridiculous,

all noob will start random IM people once they hit the world. when they feel rejected They will leave SL. how many people can understand SL mechanism and patiently learn it by themself for weeks ?

It's not random IMs that are the problem. I have absolutely no issue with a random newbie IMing me and asking me "I'm stuck with something, can you help?"

The problem is with random IMs that start with "Hi, how R U?", move on to invasive RL questions and end with "wanna slexxor?" (if you let them get that far).

Restricting sexual activity to avatars of 1 year and older won't help. Most of these IMs aren't from new users. They're from 12-year old avatars with blank profiles, or profiles with a long list of adult groups in them. In any case there's no way to identify a sexual animation from a non-sexual one. The only way to achieve it would be to restrict new users to G-rated regions for a year.  And yeah, no, with the majority of shops and shopping events and residential land being M-rated, that won't work at all.
