I have this necklace and it works fine for me except I don't have Photoshop and can't figure out how to get rid of the grid pattern on the transparent layer.

You could also, as  @PheebyKatzmentioned, be wearing the unmodded copy.

Just make a new transparent layer in YOUR graphics program and put your text on THAT layer in the same place the other would  be. Then delete the "template" layer and save your text using alpha. Use that texture on the surface needed.  Hope that helps.

That doesn't "turn PBR off", it just disables rendering of anything using PBR materials. Anything else is unaffected, including the lighting.

So does that mean that the object with PBR "disappears"?  What if ONLY one material of the object uses PBR as well as legacy textures (like a mirror surface maybe)?   Would you see most of the object but not the part with PBR materials OR if it has legacy texture too would you still see the whole object?

Do you know the actual Stat on that?

The last static (maybe from a survey, maybe from FS - don't remember) was 75 percent ish. This was a few years ago. A search might find the answer for you.  I think the simpler viewers are likely better for people starting out. Once people decide to stay tney often switch to FS. It does tons of things I use every day but it IS COMPLEX and could be overpowering to new users. There ARE classes however so that would likely help.

  4. Most events send out notecards to folks they would like to have at their events.  You can advertise in the SL Classifieds, maybe on Seraphim (not sure about that) or other SL social media.  I would suggest being clear about it being free and if NEW items need to be included or gifts etc.  Put in the rules up front or make a rules page where folks can apply.

Be aware that there are often more events than folks wanting to be IN those events so even free might be difficult to fill.  If you have a venue spot already then a link to that spot might be helpful.

I'm looking at a whole wall full of various PBR samples. Things look the way they're supposed to no matter which legacy environment I'm using, taking into account the overall color/brightness of the lighting. There's nothing magical that needs to be done to make PBR "work."

I LIKE the stuff here and have some. Cheap and come with normal map as well as diffuse. SOME however are made with small textures (like 256) and look pretty awful on anything largish.

    MEANWHILE.

what I see on log in with default lighting shared environment.

  6. You have done all the correct things. Only LL can help and sometimes they are slow (very slow) and sometimes nothing happens at all. I suggest ARing each new account and maybe LL will get tired of your complaints and do something. You ight also contack Youtube explaining that this is against the grid policy.

Most of us have been ignored on our complaints over the years and LL has much bigger problems at the moment. Hence things may take longer than usual --- if they are addressed.

    Good luck.

  7. I will let Aquilla answer that  ---   BUT 'I" always build my physics messes right on top of my actual objects. I usually use cubes -- Aquila likes plains better :D.  So for me they are the same size and "cover" the actual meshes. You can't be sloppy with your physics meshes or you will have issues.  That I can guarantee from experience.

  8. Just to clarify you do not need to name your physics model in any way if you ONLY HAVE ONE linked model that you are using for the physics.  You DO need to be SURE and apply location, rotation and scale to EACH model (both finished model and the simplified physics model). You need to have origin to geometry set on both.

It will not work without doing that.

I seldom upload linksets but  when I do use the  _Phys method each section always has location, rotation and scale appled as well as origin to geometry. If I forget (either as a linkset or as a single model) I get something like you are getting

Over a decade ago an oldtimer (not aquila  but she was around then ) told me (us) to ALWAYS apply location, rotation and scale, and origin to geometry and that will solve MANY problems.  So keep that in mind.

Hopefully Aquila's always lovely and pretty explanation fixes things for you.  If not here is an OLD video (not the new interface) that might be helpful even though things are in different places now.

I have to say that I haven't watched this in a long while and while there ARE occasions where you really want the physics to be close to the actual model (like with openings for roleplay) most of the time simplicity is much better. Hopefully that thought carries through and the screen capture Youtube chose is misleading LOL.  Anyway I hope you work this out.

I will say that I have had a couple of complex builds over the years that I could not make a one piece physics model that the uploader would understand.  I don't think that is your case though

  9. OR you can link your stairs and link your physics model. Apply location rotation and scale to both as well as origin to geometry.

OR you can import each separately and put together inworld

Your center pole physics is WAY to dense and should probably be a hexagon.   And in general your other physics model really needs to be simpler also. Cubes (resized of course) or planes that "approximate" your physics. The uploader is NOT happy with dense physics models and if it uploads them the cost can be beyond usable.  So test on the beta grid maybe?

Are you saying (suggesting) that if the reflection probes "matched" that their wouldn't be an issue (this about the mirror post) ?  That is still messy but "something".

As I have said in SANSAR it wasn't much of an issue as visitors had no way to change the lighting. So things looked the same to everyone (pluses and minuses in my book about that).

I bet I could make a mirror inside one of my houses and  post the opposite result you share ;)  I will do an example if helpful.

I am sure that would be helpful.

Full article on my blog today with more thoughts.  And yes, you were doing what LL said to do LOL but we all know by now that sometimes their ideas just don't work well in the RW.

Honestly I think eventually folks will figure out what will work. I still enjoyed Windlight more than EEP but I can pretty much do what I need to do easily now after so much practice and EEP had SO MANY issues at the beginning.

But, still, each creator has a choice whether to adopt PBR even though we will all be living "under the dome" with it.  So far except for some of you intrepid types I haven't found any creators I chat with that are jumping in.  It was REALLY good that the devs did pay attention to legacy products since there are millions out there.

Most older items look good under PBR (odd EEPs not counting).  Many of my best selling products are over a decade old :D  so while I am glad that I understand PBR better now, I am happy to sit back and cheer you guys on.

  12. So THIS is what happens when you put a piece of furniture with a probe inside a house with a probe.  Lighter area is a "reflection" of the probe prim.  I am testing some stuff so if I am incorrect please let me know.

    image.thumb.png.dd794472f07109108c3d818add999ce2.png

Works MUCH better in a house without a probe.

So we have an issue with @Charolotte Caxton FOLLOWING best practices and Dutchie "doing what works" LOL.  Which is VERY MESSY and I suspect it will be for some time to come.

I bought rigged mesh eyelashes that were quite expensive considering appliers.for the mesh head lashes are fairly cheap.  Some people are outraged at the price.  Considering she includes rigging for each lelutka head so if I change heads I'm still able to wear them, I thought the price was reasonable.  She's also updated regularly when new heads are released.  How much is too much depends on each person's taste.  As I see these lashes being worn by many, the creator does have a product.  Just not a product for everyone.

Not arguing that. My point was that if no one (are two out of a thousand) folks are willing to pay the price you have put on an item then it is really not a viable item.  Creators certainly have the right to put any price they want on an item but if it is higher than most people will pay they won't sell much.

Since when do customers decide what the prices are for products?
As a customer one has the choice to take it or leave it. The merchant decides what they have to charge to make it worth their efforts IMHO.

And if a creator charges more than the customers are willing to pay?  Well they have a creation --- but not a product :D.

And that's fine if you only want to "show your work" (which I did for a time in RL craft fairs LOL).

  15. Creators cannot DEMAND anything. They can report the review that the want removed. They have to follow rules about why it should be removed also. IF LL believes the review is against the rules then they will remove it.  LL is not going to cancel your account over a review :D.

I suggest listing the things that were not to your liking in list form being clear and precise.   AND REMEMBER that if you haven't seen a product you are taking a risk.  So part of the issue IS on you --- and you stated that :D.  I seldom buy anything without seeing it. You can always write to the creator BEFORE buying and ask to see a demo.  Better plan.

Thank you, only the desk and fedora are on the store. Not the hat stand, crime board etc. I'll fire him a message in world.

He seems to be "away" right now.   But he will no doubt  get them up soon.  The desk was an older item and discounted for the event.  Both hat stand and that impressive detective board are newish.    Good luck. They look great together. There is also a ceiling fan that would go well. :D

  17. Something is definitely "not right" in that problematic area. If you look carefully you can see that it is not smooth as it should be. We can't see that part from your photos but if you look closely at those vertices you may be able to find the problem. You could also -- if you cannot see the issue delete the faces that aren't working properly and start over.

I am a "box modeler" and I am guessing you built this in a different manner so beyond that I can't help :D

You have a lot of vertices that look like they are not connected . Those may be even more pronounced on the part that isn't showing up.

There has to be a better way.   I want to tile and keep resolution.  I am sitting in the camp of will release free updates as best practice evolves.

Haven't really been following this conversation closely (just the clippets that show up on the list) but I had to smile at the best practices comment.

We asked (well "I" and a few others) asked in SANSAR over and OVER again for a "best practices --- even o far as uploading of texture size (at one time you could upload a 4096 x 4096 png but it was down to 2048 when I arrived).  There was NEVER during my years there any info on best practices.

At least with the PBR they did worn folks to put on legacy textures for the 75 percent of folks that didn't have PBR yet.    Not everyone read, researched or listen though so we have some messiness.

While I have done lots of experiments I have no inclination to adopt PBR in my future builds but I might rethink that in a year.  I applaud those of you who are doing the alpha - beta (depending  on your point of view) testing.  LL as always needs some of the masses to actually test to see what is not working :D.

When you find your avatar gliding you have an AO conflict or an animation is not loading.

The Firestorm AO works well UNTIL... you have a second AO attached, its on/off state makes no difference, or some other attachment that adds animation.

When troubleshooting you need to know if only you see the avatar glide or is everyone see the avatar glide.

Unfortunately NOT my experience. I hadn't used an attached AO since the FS was included (what -- 8 years ago?) so that was not the issue. FS reported this issue and recalled the "latest" version and then put the fixed one up. Unfortunately that did NOT work for me.  Likely it worked for some folks or they wouldn't have called it fixed.  I am just waiting for the next update. Not a huge deal.
