Like Claireschen already said. Or use an advanced viewer like Phoenix, Singularity, Firestorm etc. that allows using ":" as shortcut for actions trigger.

oftentimes you may see someone use /me laughs to convey the same meaning even if the emote feature is not enabled in that situation
