My friends cant see i am online!

I can login and talk to them but they can't see i am online to start the conversation =[ Help! 

 

I have already tried downloading other viewers and reloading, removing Huds, checking my preferences.....

I don't have the answer but I have the same problem.  The option to see or not see whether I am online seems to be broken.  If I add a new friend then they can see me but all my old friends have become unchecked and re checking them doesn't stick.  It was fine last week.  Now it's not.

Ahh sucks...what if you unfriend someone and add them again? do you think that would work?

This has been an intermittent issue for a long time.  See the JIRA report Friends list inworld intermittently doesn't show online friends/Not Updating  (SVC-85).  You may want to add your own comments to that report if you have helpful information that might help LL's developers find a solution.  Meanwhile, there are two workaround solutions:

Workarounds for seeing who is actually online without using the Friends List:

• Go to http://secondlife.com/community/friends.php?view=photos (when the online Friends List is working correctly. This is spotty as well).
• Search your inventory for the word "online" (i.e. use calling cards)

I should have also pointed out that you can see who's online by opening your dashboard at secondlife.com and looking at the Friends list on the left side of the home page. None of the workarounds is as good as having a Friends list that works the way it is supposed to in your viewer, but at least you can get the information you want. Good luck, Missrubygirl.

Well this is not a great answer but it works.  If you de-friend and then re-friend each person on your friends list they will come back with the eyeball (see when online) option clicked. That's a pain but at least it should end the dramas.
