my camera view is driving me crazy!!

Would be good to know what viewer you are using   You can add to your post under the Options button. Choose Edit  Answer. 

 

I am guesing in may be a Viewer 2 type and you are somehow accessing the "newish" camera possibilities, perhaps by accident. Since I am not in the Viewer 2 camp I can't really help I guess. But someone here must be using the official viewer or at least have heard of the problem.

You can always press ESC on your keyboard to reset camera when it goes crazy. Also you can buy custom camera controls from the marketplace that will give you more functionality than the standard ones. :matte-motes-kiss:
