I abandoned my linden home but can't change my membership plan, why?

I want leave my linden home and I read in this forum how to do to abandon it but when I change the option (in MY MEMBERSHIP PLAN) isn't possible, why? Help me pleasee (sorry for my English but I'm italian):mansad:

In account > change membership plan > basic account > Save Changes.

It sounds like you have it the wrong way around.

You need to abandon your linden home in order to downgrade your account, you do NOT need to downgrade your account in order to abandon your linden home.

To abandon your linden home, go to your house, take back all your prims to your inventory and then go to "About Land", you can get there from the world menu or by clicking the "i" icon next to the location name at the top of your screen. In about land you just need to click the abandon button.
