Can a group be restarted?

I'm in a group (Discworld Sim Project) which appears to have no owner or officers.  I presume they have since left SL.

Is it possible for someone to take ownership of a group... at least enough to post announcements?

The group must have more than two members, at least. Otherwise it would have been deleted. I don't think it is possible to get LL to transfer ownership of the group, but you could try to IM the owner. Perhaps the owner have set IMs to go to email, and will get yours and reply? The owner can then, if you are lucky, give someone else - you perhaps - ownership in the group.

Hello Trent. No, it is no possible. Also it is no possible to get a disbanded group back.  You're free to create a new group, but the new group cannot use the exact same name as the dissolved group.

BUT : Diskworld Sim Project

unless one of the owners made someone else an owner before the group owner(s) quit no one can own the group if the group had two people in it one owner one member and the owner quit the member would become the new owner and if the group didn't get another member with in 48 hours would be disbanded.
it's easy enough to start a group if you have the L$100 fee to start a group

The only way a group ends up with no owner is if the last remaining owner gets their account suspended by LL for some reason, in which case the name could reappear at some point. In the meantime if the group founder is still around & not the suspended one, they can submit a ticket to get the group back or if you are a premium member you can try contacting support to see if they will make you an owner.
