SL is neither a game nor a 3D application. It's a virtual world where you can live an alternate life - if you want to.

A 3D application is a program used to create 3D objects or invironments.  A game is a program that has a stated goal and some reward for gaining those goals.  There are text games, board games, card games, virtual games.............some utilized 3D objects and invironments.  A 3D application is not a game.........it can be used to create a game though.  SL is not a 3D application...........it utilizes a 3D invironment that is created using 3D applications.
