Changing the name of a group

Is there a way to change the name of a group after it has been created?

sorry no, not normally. There is no capability for us to do this ourselves

on occasion Linden have changed a group's name, for NSFW or trademark reasons. But is some kind of manual process for them

Group names are too darned persistent, IMO.  Once created, they can't be changed.  If you disband the group and it disappears, that name can never be used again.

Now that we have User Name changes, maybe we should start campaigning for Group Name Changes!

Besides the advice there, I would emphasize these points:

• A group must have at least two members, or it will be automatically disbanded within 48 hours by Linden Lab.
• I strongly recommend that you invite your own alt (an alternate SL account.  If you don't have one yet, just go back to the sign up page and sign up for SL again, just like you did to create your current account).  Create the alt, then create the group, and send your alt a group invite.  Then log in with the alt's account and accept the invitation.
• NEVER assign anyone except yourself (and your alt) to the Owner role of your group.  Once you make another person a group Owner, you cannot revoke that, or remove them from the group.  This has often led to Drama!
