Anyone have any advice as to how to best network in the live music event scene in SL?

if you don't know anyone yet then a good place to start is at venues which have open mic sessions.  Use inworld search on keyword "OPEN MIC" to find.  Most are a bit like karaoke. You put your name on the list with the host, and they give you a go in your turn

if you are a competent singer/entertainer then live music venue owners, hosts and managers will hear about you, come and listen. And it goes from there

Adding to what Mollymews said, if you're an entertainer, put details in your profile. Let people know what you do, when you're available and whether or not you receive offline messages.
