Hello, forums. I've been a member of Second Life for a bit over a year and have finally decided to introduce myself properly on this forum. I've mostly been exploring Second Life solo and playing on my land, but I wouldn't mind being a teensy bit more social. The social part is easier said than done. I'm not a hard person to talk to, I just tend to have to fight against my nature to actually seek out people and start that initial conversation. Posting this thread is fairly nerve-wracking and it shouldn't be.

A little bit about my Second Life, or at least as far as my avatars go. I switch between some different anime and video game characters that I like. I doubt I'll ever make the switch to Maitreya and the works  (because I'm extremely weird and counterculture jk...well maybe not with that 'weird' part) but who knows what I might do one day. Never say never, riiight?

The me behind the computer screen is an adult female who enjoys movies and music of all sorts and of course anime if that wasn't evident by my icon. Video games can be fun too when I'm in the mood for them.

Hopefully, I did not ramble too much in this introduction. I tend to do that. If you feel so inclined hit me up here (I'll be around) or in-world (again, I'll be around).

/me pets your head "Shhhhhh, dont worry, there is a positive vibe between your lines. No need to be nervous"
And welcome! :)

Hello,

as in many posts where people come to the forums to look for friends, your profile has except some groups, no information at all, no pics, no general info, no interests, no picks and in one of the tabs:

N o t h i n g
t o
s e e
h e r e

isn't really inviting to start a talk....

Your profile is your first advertisement for yourself, use it, and give people some triggers/hints to start a talk with you. Your few groups seem to show you like Anime... if that is, use that to get in touch with others with the same interest.

I don't have anything worthwhile to add to my profile.

I am making a genuine effort now to start a conversation.

The groups are mostly silent.

Why judge me on my profile when I'm not in-world where that's all you have to base approaching me on, instead of basing assumptions on my actual forum post?

Do not see it as judgement, but as advice on how to accomplish the goal you mentioned in your forum post, namely to be more social in SL. There are lots of people who do not come to the forums who will see you in SL and they might look at your profile and what they see there could influence whether the say "hi" or not. Do not overthink it though, nothing you put there is set in stone, you can edit at any time, so just get something out there. What you put in this post even would work, you thought that was a good way to introduce yourself to the forums, why not use it to introduce yourself to everyone. With a few slight changes because you would be addressing others in world, rather than the forums.
