Hello Cherono. Have a look at the following link to check exactly the SL system requirements. As i know some users had problems with their ATI graphical cards but most of them fixed them when they downloaded the last drivers:

https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/?lang=en-US

For drivers: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

The following cards are NOT compatible with Second Life:

  • ATI cards that report as RAGE, RAGE PRO, or RADEON 320M, 340M, 345M, or similar model numbers
  • ATI cards that report as RADEON IGP or RADEON XPRESS
  • ATI cards that report as FireGL
  • ATI cards that report as FireMV

Thanks. I had looked at SL's system requirements but as it doesn't specifically list the ATI RadeonTM HD6450 graphics card but says that *some* cards will not work I'm anxious to avoid these. I think it's a brand new product and am hopeful that it will work but want to avoid disappointment and extra expense. Was hoping that someone might use this card and let me know whether it works in SL.

First of all, totally ignore the System Requirements page in repsect of graphics cards (apart where it lists a few that are unsupported).

The AMD (no ATI now) Radeon HD 6450 is the 5450 rebadged with a new BIOS and perhaps some minor differences. AMD basically did this for OEMs initially so they could announce new graphics cards for their computers instead of using last year's models but they are on general release too. There are 512MB and 1GB cards..which one is included? To be honest, 512 MB or 1GB doesn't make a huge difference with SL but would with other games.

The 6450 is an entry level card below the other cards in this series, namely the 6750 and 6770, and while it will play Second Life and has DirectX11 for other games, It only has 160 stream processors, one third of the 6770. I would strongly suggest you upgrade this if you can as it will not offer great performance if SL and gaming in general is of primary concern. Does the manufacturer offer any other options?

Edited to add stuff and correct error.

Well, seems there has been some improvements over the 5450, it's not just a rebadging so apologies for that.

Should work a bit better that the 5450 but is still an entry level card.
