List free item with LM to item in world is ok?

so in short... no not allowed to list, and no to give lm here.

WhenIF sombody else searches for a item, and can't find it,  and asked in the right category/section, it's a bit different story, with a direct question it's allowed to point where to find it. Other mentions are advertising and spam.

 

pretty easy to find:

  • Spamming, Solicitation and Advertising: Spamming is not allowed. This includes aggressive self-promotion. No advertising or promotion of specific Second Life merchants, Marketplace listings, products, or services, unless the forum area is specifically for the buying or selling of Second Life products or services, for example, a “for sale” or “wanted” forum. Do not reference other websites offering any product or service.
Note: It is OK to have a signature line with a link to your Second Life profile or information about your Second Life business.

@Ethan methinks you misunderstand him...
anyways here are the rules that make me think it is forbidden:

 

From MP listing guidelines

Disallowed Actions

The following actions are disallowed. Note that these actions are disallowed by the Second Life Terms of Service, and are restated here for clarification.

...

Non-Item Listings. The SL Marketplace is also not to be used for:

...

  •   Dispensing catalogs or information regarding an item without actually delivering that item, or

...
