Active Flickr groups?

Hey there!

Just a quick one! I was wondering if anyone could suggest any active Flickr groups. Done a bit of Googling which showed me some SL Flickr groups that hadn't been used for quite some time. I'm already a part of Second Life (safe pictures only), ^SL sexiest men^, Second Life Fashion, mystical fae forest, Firestorm Viewer, Second Life LOTD & Second Life Official.

But yeah, just wondered if anyone knew of any generic SL Flickr groups?

Flickr groups is a jungle to me. I don't know how many I'm in, and every time I post a new picture I have to go through each of them to see if the picture fits or not. I also find it impossible to figure out which ones generates most views; if the group is huge the picture might just slip past unnoticed, if it's too small there's no one looking. 

The most popular means of getting a lot of attention, as far as I've noticed, is to follow and fave-spam everyone you can find and hope they'll return the favor.

Glad it's not just me with this issue! It's so much more complicated than it should be. If you link me your Flickr I'll definitely pop you a follow. Have seen some of your pictures around on the forum and they're fantastic!

Haha, thank you! You should go to your settings here on the forums and tick the box to show signatures, most people who use Flickr has a link in theirs, but here's a direct link for you: https://www.flickr.com/photos/160224995@N04/

I think many of the groups are a bit on the weird side. I've had plenty of pictures (selfies) that I noticed were removed from some pools for groups made especially to display SL males and male fashion - despite following all rules of the group. I usually add my pictures to all the groups that seem to fit the theme, and if the administrators wants to remove them I leave that to them - if they don't want me posting there they can remove me and I'll just not post there. 

It's a lot of administrative work though, as with many groups being opted out some pictures can end up in 45+ groups - and having to go through all of them to double-check the rules each time (unless the few I know accepts anything SL) is a bit of a chore. But, it's how Flickr works it seems. I'm not big enough to get my pictures invited to all the interesting groups and I reckon it's a matter of getting to know the groups in time.

The best thing to do is join groups in the genres you photograph in and make sure to write good tags for your photos as well.

Put your photo in the appropriate group. Now that you’re in some general groups, you should be getting photos in your feed from other people. Like the ones you really like, but pay attention to the ones that get a high number of faves. Now look at the groups they’re in. Stay away from the “Fave 2 get 2” groups. You should see other groups that you might not have been aware of, start joining those. 

As time goes on, you’ll start to pick up followers and faves, then you’ll start to have people that regularly like your photos.

I've just started a flickr group for pics with the aim of sharing shots of  interesting/creative/fun/beautiful places anyone's visited in SL, so others can be inspired to visit too. Feel free to join (please read group rules first). I've only put a few photos up (most are in my general photostream), but hope to add more soon and see more great places from other SL folks:)
