Can an owner get a mainland region renamed ?

Linden Labs tries to keep the names the same honestly, private regions surely if you pay the rename fee with is $50.

as far i know renaming is only possible for privatly owned sims.

It is possible of course, in fact LL did rename one of their own mainland regions only a few months ago.

But imagine how much work it would be for them if everybody kept asking for new sim names. Maybe they could open for it in the rare cases where one person or group owns the entire sim but they would have to charge a fee to compensate for the work (as they do with private sims - 50$ isn't it?) and it's understandable why something like that isn't high on their priority list.
