question about email change

I made a mistake, sometime ago I changed my password to my email, I wrote the new password down on a piece of paper. Now i can't find that piece of paper.
So my question is, if i change my email adress do i get a mail to my old email that I have to confirm.

Unless it has changed recently, no.  As long as you know your account password you can change the email address just like any other setting.

I really hope you mean my password for SL and not my old email  when i go to change email, there is a clickable "verify" next the my old email adress, if this ask for the email password, then i stand with my hair in the mailbox (that is a danish saying)

edit to say that would be stupid because LL dont know that password

last time i changed my email, i only had to verify the new adress, the old on got nothing

That is good to know. i don't want to change it if i had to confirm from the old mail and risk losing my SL account for not confirming.

Yes.  That is what I meant.

When changing your email preferences, the "verify" link will send an email to that address.  You will notice that it is redacted to only show the first and last letters.  The verify option is there to make sure the current addresses was entered correctly. After you change it to your new address, you may want to verify that it works.  And that is the reason for the link.

I have changed my email back in 2009 and that is the only time I've looked at that, i don't remember that link being there.
