JustaTest
Is there a way to make animations with sound? What I mean is, is there a way to use a sound (in 3ds Max or another program) and animate along with it? I find myself playing, stopping, rewinding, and even doing so it's not quite on time with the sound.
Bree Giffen
You can use a gesture to combine a sound and animation. Not sure what you mean. You can't upload an animation and sound together as one file.
Lindens Torley Linden Posted April 11, 2011 Lindens Share Posted April 11, 2011 One way to quickly get examples of what Bree mentions is: go to a Welcome Area/Infohub like Ahern or Waterhead, and ask the (likely rowdy) regulars to give you some of their favorite free gestures. Many of them are adapted from memes where a crazy anim plays with a sound. Like this SL take on "Geddan":
JustaTest
Sorry for the late response, been busy with work. What I meant was that I want to animate the movements of dance moves and use the actual song as reference. For example, clapping your hands to the beat of a song. Think of a metronome, you want to edit an animation frame according to when that beat will come. I don't want to submit the animation and sound clip together, I want to simply edit the animation. Hope that makes sense.
JustaTest
I'm unable to view the video Torley, sorry. But I don't want to submit a gesture, just the animation itself for now
JustaTest
**BUMP** I'm still trying to figure out how to edit an animation to a sound. As I mentioned earlier, I want to edit an animation according to when the beat will drop, for instance....stomping foot.
Medhue Simoni
Most songs have a set beat. So, in terms of any animation, you know the beat is going to hit ever 2 seconds or whatever. If you are creating an animation at 20 FPS, and the beat is every 2 seconds, that means the beat hits every 40 frames. Or, If you have a mocap system, just play the song and dance to it, lol.
