what do I do about a failed delivery on something I bought in world at one of the shops?

You need to put that information onto a notecard and send it to the merchant with a polite note, asking for redelivery.  Be a little patient.  It is the weekend and many merchants have real lives, just like you and me, so it may take a day or two to get a response.
