Has there ever been thought to allow users to change their name if they pay a fee?

I know that I would love my partner/wife to have my last name permanently. We woudl pay extra for that priveledge. Has this ever been considered as an add on service?

If by names you mean last names I think we know for sure at this point that we won't see the option to have or change names ever again. The whole point of display names is to allow people to do exactly what your talking about.

If you do a quick search, you'll see that someone posts a variation on that question here every couple of weeks.  The most recent one before yours was just yesterday, in fact.  The answer is always the same.  Nice idea, but that ship sailed several years ago and it's not coming back.  Use Display Names instead.  They aren't unique but they are personal.
