I left sl for a while then downloaded and had the same problem, it would not take me to the log in page.

So what I did is download a third party veiwer from http://www.firestormviewer.org/downloads/ and so far everything seems fine.

It does take awhile to get used to a different veiwer but thats where patience comes in handy as well.

If you did not save the previous version's installation file in your Downloads folder, try one of the many third party viewers.

I uninstalled and reinstalled then it couldnt finish the update because it said there was an incorrupt file.

What a screw up.  Even uninstalling SL the correct way with a reinstall doesn't help.  Get us back to the previous version and get an update that works having been tested to your minimum specs. As for going to firestorm or another third party viewer, i would still like my sl viewer berter and yes, i have tried firestorm and other viewers. 

I suspect it is more than just a few people having this problem.  I have heard from a couple of friends already.

The best solution for now, until Linden Lab issues an improved version of the current update that is giving you trouble, is to download and install a different viewer. For many people who have posted here in Answers, reinstalling a previous version of the LL viewer is not an option, but there are several very good Third Party viewers with much better stability records.  If you do not like the idea of switching to a Third Party viewer and are willing to try an "almost beta" version of the LL viewer, I'd suggest trying the Project Snowstorm viewer.  That is an experimental viewer, testing features that may be incorporated into later releases of the standard Linden Lab viewer. It is not guaranteed to be as stable as a normal release, but it does have the familiar LL interface.
