  1. Just in case anyone that works with the SL viewer downloads can see this. With the last download (of 3) we just received. It worked well until i logged off and came back in. Although I'm not crashing consistantly anymore, rezzing is terrible. If you are in a store it sometimes takes 30 min just for things to start popping up. I checked my pc and all my memory, etc is working fine. My graphics card has always worked so that's not a problem. Maybe it has something to do with the alpha's part of the new download? Just taking guesses. But it's still very frustrating with the SL viewer and Firestorm is really no different for me.
  2. You will not be able to D/l a previous version of the SL viewer and have it work.
  3. Sean just an FYI. I'm also using GForce and I'm having the major problems others are having.
  4. Is there a possibility that new releases to the viewer not be put out until it's known if it works fully for everyone? I spent a lot of time and money in SL and this isn't the first time i've gotten a upgrade that shuts me down completely. I still can't TP anywhere or D/l anything without crashing
  5. Since I d/l the new SL viewer upgrade, I can't stay on longer than 10-15 min w/o being closed down. Others I know are having the same problem. There are no warnings, it just shuts down.
  6. Sono, contact me in SL and I may be able to help you with the typing problem
  7. Until Tuesday (5-28-13) I've always been able to activate new SL Viewer updates. As of that date, I can no longer do that. It loads almost all the way then gives the following error report SecondLIfewViewer\App_Settings\Static_index.db2 I can't do this from within SL or at the main website of SL.

  11. well with the latest update, all that i listed is happening and I also can't hear music anymore.
  12. ok just another question about the viewer, this week alone i've received two forced updated viewers. The last one which was a few days ago, keeps causing me to crash, freeze, I can't close conversations without going into a stall which sometimes causes me to crash. I don't really mean to sound sarcastic but do you keep giving out updates till they don't work at all anymore? It's very frustrating. I understand that at some point we need to upgrade our graphics card or memory but can't we live with one version for a bit before receiving an upgrade 3 days after we got the last one?
  13. Totally agree with you about the loss in the SL experience regarding the new viewer. I've also now noticed my computer working really hard when I'm in SL. Hard drive screams like crazy and when i log off you can hear it wind back down.
  14. The viewer definately takes away from those who use SL to visit, play, go to other places for visual effects. To have the large square (yes large and i'm using a 24" screen) it takes away from the visual experience. If I remember, this is somewhat similar to what we used about 5 years ago. However with that chat system, you could make it part of the top or bottom so it ran across the the whole screen, (top or bottom) not taking a chunk out of the middle or side of your screen. I know there are nice advances on this for doing things with chat but.....if your going to do this to visual space, its the start of turning SL back into a chat network instead of what I thought it was intended to be.....an experience. My suggestion, if at all possible is to maybe give people the choice of using it like it is now or going back to what we had prior to the new release. FYI there is also some freezing of the screen going on now when you go into preferences, or tp to other places.
  15. Phil, sorry to disagree but it's nothing like the previous viewer was. It's now a solid unit that can't be shrunk to the point where it's not sprawling out on the screen. It forces you to either put it on the side so your head is constantly turning to look at conversations, or you have to put in on the bottom in the middle of the screen which totally takes away from the SL experience. You also can't go into preferences without the screen freezing briefly. It was really a poor idea to put this up so quickly. People creating these (upgrades) need to remember that many go in SL to experience lands and places. To cut down on your viewing, no matter what the reason takes away from that.
  16. Just some feedback from my point of view......it has many new features which are good but it really makes a mess of my screen space. Maybe it will just take some getting use to but it now blocks the bottom of the screen which to me doesn't help the SL experience. Maybe someone knows of a way to switch it like it use to be?
  17. Actually you can no longer use earlier versions. When you try they automatically upgrade to the new version upon logging in or won't even let you install older ones. The new version also changed my graphic settings which makes it not as appealing to look at even when trying to get certain things back to the way they were. Also it would be a great help if on a future version (which should only be 1-2 weeks) you could make it more user friendly by allowing the user to put things whereever they would like them on the screen.
