Second life 3.7.17 keeps crashing - how do I troubleshoot ?

Hi

top of the page you see 4 tabs, click on the Knowledge base, its were we get the answers.

type into the search box

crash and a drop down menu with appear from that you can pick a option

or type into it log off

and try Graphics pick graphic card also check out the min system need to run SL

the chequer-boards  you see could be the graphic need updating or the graphic card or over heating.

if you are runing wine get the linux viewer you find it better.

if that no good try the clean install of the viewer

download a new copy and install that

I'm surprised you are able to use SL at all, with those system specs.

You need more RAM, you need a better graphics card, and a faster processor would not hurt, either.

Your problem may have been that the update re-set your graphics preferences to a level too high for your system to handle.  Try setting them to LOW.

The nouveau (to be correct, the mesaGL) driver is not really supporting all OpenGl stuff. You need the proprietary driver with uptodate viewers. You will need to remove them and get the proper driver from nvidia.com. But with this system you won't have any fun, it must be like a slideshow only.
