Mesh Upload Problem

I have a mesh dae file that I've converted via Meshlab from obj to dae. I have uploaded it successfully via Firestorm to several Opensim instances with zero issues. Once uploaded, the created mesh object looks perfect. However... when I try to upload it to either SL grids, I get "object failed to upload: multiple errors while validating asset: upload_invalidasset.. See the log file for details"... I gotta ask: WHAT log is it referring to, as I see nothing regarding mesh upload errors in the /users/xxxx/appdata/roaming/firestorm_x64/logs/firestorm.log ... is there some other log that I'm not aware of catching these mesh errors?? Been in SL a LONG time, but just now starting to learn mesh-y stuff...

I don't have a great answer here but will put down what I know.

If there actually is a log file, I have never found it either.

I rarely see that messge these days although I did when I was beginning to upload. I THINK, if I remember correctly, that for me it was times when my mesh wasn't all that good. So when I had double vertices etc.  If I have a clean mesh with good topology I don't see error messages.

One thing you could try is uploading a different dae file. If you don't have any besides your test file (hard to tell from your post) you can save a prim build as a dae file in Firestorm and then try uploading that.

It would also be good (and this is most always true) if you could put in a screenshot or two of your upload screen so folks can perhaps see the problem.

Also, it was hellish last week and many things are not working correctly still (no new server code this week) so this COULD possibly be related to a general problem. I haven't uploaded lately.

Thanks.. I have several other items I've converted from obj to dae, this actually happens on all of them.. oops. should have mentioned that first off.. But they ALL upload fine via FS on OpenSim (both OSGrid and my standalone Opensim "sandbox").. Will get a screenshot of the error, and post it on this message...

Update: Tried to login to the beta grid, seems the only sandbox I apparently have access to (Wanderton) is off-line.. Certainly not gonna try uploading to the main grid until I *know* things are copacetic... Will try later...

The log file is actually the one you mentioned before: /users/xxxx/appdata/roaming/firestorm_x64/logs/fir

estorm.log.

However, it is not very easy to read. If you shut down the viewer after the upload error, you might find the corresponding log file lines when scrolling from the end of file some pages upwards.

You should propably use search words like "upload model", "asset", "collada importer" or something like that.

The viewer gives this "see the log file for details" in those situations when there would be more than one error message appearing on the screen. So..multiple errors in dae file.

ETA: This is about what the log file section looks like:

Why would you safe your meshes as obj in the first place? Why don't you export them right away from your modeling program to .dae files?

Good question.  Maybe some 3D apps dont do .dae?
