I have been in Second Life for more than six years now, and have NEVER been a stripper or an escort.

I used to have a job that paid a regular salary writing short columns for an SL-based weekly newspaper, but - lucky me - I didn't need the money, and preferred being an unpaid ghost hunter for a while.

You are new (perhaps), and don't know any better, but generally, people see only reflections of themselves.

I'm actually not new, I played at least 7 years ago and even then it was the same ole stuff, escorting, stripping, pole dancing, ya know stuff like that... Reflection of myself? Well actually my char reflects me quite well, she doesn't strip or run around naked. And as for being funny, why yes that title has been given to me numerous times, and I enjoy trolls, fat little buggers aren't they?

I heard they are fixing this lack of realism soon. Its so unrealistic that we don't need to buy food or that many houses do not contain a proper bathroom with a toilet and don't get me started on flying!!!

 

After that bug-fix you will finally be able to get a job that fits you better....maybe a cleaning lady or something like that?

I, too, cherish the great variety of jobs SL offers... besides those you mentioned, there’s also creators, artists, builders, public relationship, events hosting, photographers, cinematographers, live musicians, actors, teachers, orientators, scripters, writers, designers, models, journalists, fashion / appearance consultants, decorators, land barons, business / staff managers, security services, professional roleplayers... and so many more.

It’s of course a pity that many RL professions and their related skills can’t be easily translated, if at all, to SL... but the technology just isn’t there yet to offer a virtual equivalent of... say, perfumists or chefs. But still, the ones that can already be performed here... it’s amazing.
