Hello Forum, I'm a complete beginner concerning scripts, programming and codes. I have gotten a script from the marketplace, that somewhat does what I want, but I can't figure out how to customize it. I have a sit target helper, but I only know how to use it for placing characters on chairs or boxes. I have asked around in my community, but haven't found anybody who could help me.

Hopefully, this is the right forum for my question.

Here's what I'm looking for.
I have 1 moddable microphone, that I want to set up as follows:

- Avatar touches microphone ( left mouse button )
- Avatar gets placed behind microphone
- At the same time the avatar gets placed behind the mic, a menu/dialogue option pops up
- 2 options: "Dance" and "Stop Dancing" ( I have the animation I want to use )
- The avatar can choose either option, while staying at the exact same position
- In order to leave the microphone and the menu, the avatar must "stand up"

-The menu should not ask the avatar for permission to animate him/her
- The menu should not contain additional buttons, like "more" or "back"

Later I want to use/modify the same script for different height avatars, microphones and instruments.

Can anybody tell me how to set up the type of script I need ?

Regards

Hollus

Well it's a custom script for that, there's no auto script that will do that.

One stumbling block is that unless the avatar chooses to sit on the object (poseball style), it MUST request animate permissions.  Similarly, what pops up in the menu is a simple case of whtaever is in the script for the menu to show.

Custom solution.

Some people, new to the forums, think that they can declare a thread "closed" when they have learned as much as they wanted.  Threads are of course public property as soon as the first person responds.  They no longer "belong" to the OP.  :smileywink:

That's how you see it ? A new member dares to "declare" a thread closed ? In many forums it's appreciated to give feedback if your problem gets solved.  And yes, "some people" ( in fact: many people ) will write "thread closed", "question answered" etc., without any intention of acting as a forum official.

Yes, very nice. Hope you'll get a similar comment some time when you're new to a forum and have a question. Lucky for me, many SL users understand the problem of not knowing certain things if you're a beginner.

Thank you, and welcome to the SL forums.  There's no way to "close" our threads here, and the custom that you may have seen in other forums is not at all common here.  A thread is always "open" once someone has responded to it, so anyone may add to it, even ages later (as you have already discovered  :smileywink: ).  It's a pretty good system, although sometimes people end up responding years later to a person who has long since left SL.  The threads in this section of the SL forums (the Creation forums) and in Answers are largely informational, so it helps to have the commentary available as an archive long after it was started.

Please feel free to add helpful information to any thread.  If you have a new question, though, it is best to start your own, so that you have a better chance that other people will discover it.
