Trouble with Viewer installation

I did the upgrade of the SL viewer as required by the system, but some dll files are corrupted, and the viewer does not work. When will you release the new version?
In the meantime, I'm coming in with firestorm viewer but I hate it and I can not wait to have again available the official Second Life viewer.

Hi Shanty,

We're residents just like you, and so don't know when new viewer versions will come out. If you have corrupted dll files, perhaps a "clean install" will clear things up. Here are instructions for doing that...

Although those instructions are produced by the Firestorm team, they apply to virtually all viewers if you make the appropriate filename changes.

OK Do the following:

1) Reinstall SL again using the official version from Linden Lab. [be sure to do a clean install]

Here is the Windows 8 Manual System File cleanup procedure since it's not in the procedure above.

Windows 8
1.Using File Explorer -> Libraries / Computer / ( C: ) / Users /
2.Press the Continue button to get permission to obtain permanent permission edit this directory.
3.From the View drop-down menu option select Options & Change Folder & Search Options
4.Select the View Tab
5.Under the Hidden Files and Folders options click on the - O Show hidden files, folders & Drives radio button
6.Push the Apply Button then the OK button.
7.Open C:\Users\\AppData\Local and delete the contents of your Temp folder and the SecondLife folder.
8.Uninstall Second Life using the Programs and Features tool in the Windows Control Panel.
9.Download and install the latest release of the Second Life Viewer from http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/.

2) Login using that Viewer and wait for a complete Login and Inventory rebuild.

3) Afterwards, you may use any viewer you prefer but I recommend a clean install of that viewer as well following their instructions.

I'm not releasing a new version of anything.  I'm a SL resident, like you.  So are all the other people who answer at this resident-to-resident Answer service.  Lindens never come here.

if you have corrupted dll files, you will need to re-install your viewer carefully.  Don't just drop a new version on top of the old one. You'll inherit a lot of its problems. Meanwhile, give Firestorm a fair chance. There are lots of good reasons why it's been the most popular viewer in SL for a long time.
