No entry permissions? I should have.

I am trying to do some work in a region I co-own.

I have all the permissions imaginable, can do what I want there.

Yet in some places, when I try and do some work, I get this message;

" Second Life: Failed to unlink because you do not have object entry permissions on all parcels"

So there must be a little problem with the permissions, but I can't find it.

The object entry permissions of the parcel are set to everyone!

Does anyone know where I need to look to sort this out?

Right, this is what happens if any part of the linkset encroaches on another parcel when you try to unlink.

Personally, I've never seen it be wrong about this, but I've seen it be extraordinarily fussy.

Note that it will let you blithely link up all kinds of stuff you can't later unlink in the same location.

It may be necessary to take the object to a multi-sim sandbox (or a void-surrounded single-sim with full build permissions) in order to get the darn thing unlinked.

This behavior is maybe a year old or so... came along about the same time as encroachment returnability and some anti-griefing clamp-down on object entry exploits.

Jo, I also co-own a region, and the other owner and I have full mod rights on each others objects, and we do a lot of co-work on the sim.  We've had this problem both with objects he's linked, and with objects I've linked.

A couple of things to look at:

1)  Make sure you have on the proper group tag.

2) Make sure all the parcels and the linked object are set to the same group.  If you, or someone else, has linked objects, while wearing a different tag, than that land group might not let objects enter.

3)  Look at each parcel to make sure it's set to the same group, and the object permissions are the same.  When setting up a new area, sometimes we'd have on different tags, and/or set the parcels or objects to different groups, by accident.

4)  If it's a large linked set, that extends over several parcels, I'd end up finding out that one of the parcels had a different setting than the others.

We were usually able to solve the problem by looking at one of the situations listed above.
