Why? Not every prostitute is forced by criminals into the business. Most girls I met in SL who do escorting seem to be pretty independent women, who are far different from what you see in this video. Escorting in general is not a problem. The organized crime is.

You can't just point to the high priced escort doing it just to maintain her lifestyle or to the college student paying her way through college. It's hard to believe they're normal run of the mill girls who will just drop out of prostitution when they get what they want and return to a healthy normal life. Secondly, those examples are such small fractions of prostitution that you can't really make an argument for prostitution just by pointing to those.

One of my nieces spent some time overseas studying sex workers as part of her academic work. Most that she encountered were in that line of work because there weren't many other opportunities for them. It was one way to try to escape crushing poverty. And some absolutely would have welcomed another avenue out.

Its is a moral think. Or would you say strippers and pornstars are threaten differently? Or would you really think the reaction is "oh poor thing, let me help ya!" Like I say the reaction is disgust and an unwillness to understand this decission. I can give you such a long list of examples of women who are not forced into prostitution.

Your argument prostituion as a whole an virtual exorts in SL are in anyway part of the problem of those indian girls isn't working!

Or do you want to ban everyone and everything in SL that offers escorting?

I tuned into YouTube today, and this video was on the front page. Incredibly sad what goes on in other countries. What is even more sad, is when an 11 year old sees and feels this is wrong more than the adult. Then something went terribly wrong with society. It makes you want to literally cry.

There is no way I would ever compare hooking in SL to RL.

Unless that escort is going to actually get a cucumber and broccoli and do with them in RL what I ask her to.

Otherwise hooking in SL is no more than the women who answer the sex lines at 1-800-YoStupid. Just words.

Maybe the dirty talk can take a psychological toll on the women and some of them may hear things that many of us would rather never hear but there is still no comparison with actually physically hooking up as a prostitute.

eta clarity

I suppose they could do what unskilled men do and join the military or work in other hazardous occupations like asbestos removal.

You do realize that not all of the militaries of the world admit women? And that in some cultures, women are not allowed to go into just any industry that they choose? Even if they were, they might find the male competition for such jobs overwhelming, especially in a country where 70% +/- of the population lives below the poverty line.

How does 'virtual escorting' in which a person on this side of the digital divide sits in their probably air conditioned home and trawls for clients for a few $L to spend shopping in a virtual mall, have any comparison to chlidren, teens, and women being held captive and forced to take as many customers as they are told to, mostly without any protection at all from STDs including AIDS?

In what reality is that anything alike?
