Review the System Requirements here >>> https://secondlife.com/support/system-requirements/ .  The wisest move is to meet or exceed the Recommended requirements.  Like most software, Second Life viewers are upgraded continually so a computer that meets only Minimum Requairements will be obsolete (for SL) before very long.

Personal recommendations:   (1) Avoid noteboook computers and laptops that do not have discrete (that is, removeable) graphics cards.  Mobile computers that have integrated graphics chips are often problematic for SL residents. (2) Do not plan on using wirelesss as your routine Internet connection.  Wireless is generally less stable than SL demands, so you may expect problems with disconnections and with erratic movement in world.   Those two topics are among the most frequent complaints that we receive here in Answers.

1.  A desktop computer will give more performance than a laptop at the same price point.

2.  Almost any computer advertised as a "gaming computer" will run SL well.

3.  Stay away from integrated graphics solutions like "Intel HD 3000" and "Intel HD 4000".  Get a machine with a discrete ATI/AMD Radeon or NVIDIA GeForce graphics card.
