Wouldn't it be possible to drop 2 7500 av-7500prim regions on 1 CPU?

Interesting question, but this Answers service isn't set up for discussion.  We're not Lindens either.  We're all SL residents like you.  All we do is answer questions about how SL works (or why it doesn't).   If you really want to discuss the question, try posting it in General Discussion.  (No Lindens there, either, but at least you can have a decent discussion. :smileytongue: )

Afrodite,

Hmmmmm - I'm bored this morning - Lets look at the economics of that. Looking at only Private Regions:

Full Region - $295.00 USD per month - Region located on a single CPU core [15,000 prims]

Homestead Region - $125.00 USD per month - Region shares a CPU core with 3 other Homesteads [3500 prim /HS - 15000 total]

Open Space Region - $75.00 USD per month -  Region shares a CPU core with 3 other Open Spaces and very limited prim and avatar allowance

Your request would add...

Half Region - Region shares a CPU core with 1 other Half region [7500 prim /HR - 15000 total]

Lets do some quick math...

If management & grid over head + server ./ core expense for a Full Region is $295.00 USD /Core & If management & grid over head + server ./ core expense for a Homestead Region is $500.00 USD total [$125.00x4 cores]

Then you get  [295x1]+[125x4] / 5 [regions] = a average price of a region in this pricing family = $159.00/month mean income requirement.

- The difference in the charged price between regions being a function of the value associated with the increase in prims & overall performance.

Thus

1) the Full Region is charged an additional $136/mo above this mean average for added prims & performance

2) the Homestead Region is discounted $34/mo below this mean average, acknowledging a reduced prims & performance

Assuming the $159 to be some magic internal LL income average requirement for occupied regions then:your 2 regions would be priced about here:

$159.00 USD + [messy formula here - to average out the support  & real cost price range deltas ] = $159.00 minimum assuming this Region type becomes the mean but $200.00 "feels" closer to reality.

So on a price per prim basis...

Full Region: 15000/295.00 = $0.019666 / prim

Half Region: 7500/159.00 = $0.0212 / prim

Homestead: 3500/125.00 =  $0.0357 / prim

Your suggestion on the face of it makes some economic sense.

So why not make it available?

Because 2 regions on a CPU still eats a certain amount of basic overhead in electrical, networking & management overhead. That average mean calculation is a reversed engineered value, not the actual internal LL value. My guess would be that the cost needed for your 2 Region per CPU scheme would be closer to;

$200.00 per Half Region:

Half Region: 7500/200.00 = $0.0266 / prim Still fitting nicely into the mix.

So still why not implement this:

Answer: MAINLAND

1/2 Region - 32,768 sqm - 7,500 - US$125 = $0.01666  / prim

Entire Region - 65,536 sqm  - 15,000 - US$195 = $0.013 / prim

Mainland pricing so beats this scheme – People needing only 7500 prims probably will not want to pay a difference of $75 per month for the performance boost. People needing 15000 prims are willing to pay $100 / month more for a private estate for the performance, avatar count, security management and ability to self restart the region.

But what do I know?

Just my 10 cents and my being bored this morning...:cattongue:
