2toe Bigboots
I have setup a server at home for testing some scripts and it turns out my IPS blocks port 80. So is there a work around to this at all? Server is Xampp Linux ran from home, all ports forwareded. Can only be seen from local ip
Darkie Minotaur
You'd have to be a little more specific as to what you want to do. In theory, there are quite a few ways to go through a proxy, natting .... - but if that is an option, depends on what you want to do and which ports your ISP blocks. Canoro Philipp
you can use port 81, opening it on your modem. the difference will be that you will have to access what you are delivering using your ip and a : , and after it, the port you are using, for example: http://111.111.111.111:
2toe Bigboots
from what i understand you need to beable to listen on port 80 for SL scripts. right?
Darkie Minotaur
Not that I know off - many scripts use other ports - e.g. most shout cast serer listen to 8080
Canoro Philipp
here's a program you can use to open other ports: Simple Port Forwarding, you just specify the type of modem you use and the username and password of your modem. another thing you must do besides opening the port, is to assign the opened port to your computer, that could be under "games and applications sharing" or something like that, every modem is different, what you have to do is to view under what name your modem recognize your computer, thet may be under "home network" or something like that, once you have the name, you go to the tool to share the application or game and you assign the application to your "local device", that will be your computer. if you cant make it with the program, maybe you can tell us the name of the modem and we can find out how to do it. Nalates Urriah
Several ISP's block INCOMING port 80 on home connections. That prevents you from hosting a web site. You are forced into a busines account. If they have done a good job of blocking there is no easy way around the block. The block happens on the ISP's connection to the backbone. So, another user within the network can probably reach your port 80. But anyone on another network, different ISP, cannot. The simple solution is to use a different port.
