Hi Monniela,

Mouselook gives you a first person view of SL, through your avatar's eyes. You can enable that by typing M or zooming all the way in on your avatar. When in Mouselook, your mouse points the camera. Some objects, like snowball throwers that you wear, require you to be in mouselook for aiming and firing.

Here's more information...

You can enable/disable seeing your avatar when you look down in mouseview by checking/unchecking "Preferences->Move & View - Mouse: Show me in Mouselook".

Have fun!

Maddy's advice about entering mouselook is correct -- that is, either type M or scroll your mouse wheel all the way forward.  However ..... Typing M will only work if you have chosen the option in Preferences >>> General that says "Pressing letter keys affects movement."  If you selected "Pressing letter keys starts local chat," then typing M won't open mouselook.  Also, scrolling your mouse wheel all the way forward will only work if your camera is in its defauilt setting first.  To get there, you have to hit the ESC key before you scroll the mouse wheel.

Mouselook takes a little getting used to.  But it has advantages.  One of them, as Maddy pointed out, is for combat.  It can also be great for sightseeing, if you are sitting in something like a gondola or balloon ride.  One very cool way to use Mouselook is when flying.  Your avatar will always fly directly toward the mouse cursor...so all you have to do to perform some amazing aerobatics is to hold the Up Arrow (forward movement) key while moving your mouse to direct your flight path.
