You should have entered below the cliffs,  or checked out the view from the top of my sphere tank home, both are beyond the range  of the hornets nest.

You couldn't pay me to enter your land. lol. Not that I'm afraid of being kicked out of the land but you clearly don't want guests unless you can play a prank on them. I'm not going to be part of your sick joke. :)

Adding .. and with that I'm out. I have said too much already.

That description was a relict from when I divided the land for sale. That part was outside of the scan range, so visiting that parcel looking to buy it you wouldn't be bothered by the hornets.

I went there today. I didn't step foot in your inhospitable parcel. I wanted to see for myself what you had written in the description. I don't care when you wrote it. It's still there and people can innocently inter that land and stumble into the trap you have set for them. But hey, it's your land. How you treat your guests, that you have told is open for everyone to ENJOY, is your business. But then you made it our business by asking a question you really didn't want an answer to.

For anyone that just shows up being attacked by a swarm of hornets is simply part of the experience of being on my property. If they never wander into scan range they will never be attacked.

I think it would be totally different if they were just being attacked. In other words they were chased but not pushed past the property line. That would be a pretty cool experience but that's not what you've set up according to what you've posted. It's not a situation of someone out in nature walking and stumbling upon a hornet nest. You are pushing them off the land .. basically kicking them out. And honestly, I'd have no issue whatsoever with that if you hadn't advertised the land as being public. It's not public. You have a white list. That makes it not public. It's basically a trap laying in wait.

But anyway, it's your land. You certainly have a right to do whatever you want with your land, but you asked the question. So that's my answer.

  4. I want to be clear about this. I have no problem with there being a specific emoji to show scorn. It's a legitimate response in some cases and who is to say what would be appropriate or not. My biggest problem is the ambiguity in using the laugh emoji now to show both scorn and humor. To say that we shouldn't be able to react negatively to a post is silly and immature IMO.

    added:

    Definition of scorn

1: open dislike and disrespect or derision often mixed with indignation

2: an expression of contempt or derision

3: an object of extreme disdain, contempt, or derision : something contemptible

After reading the definition for scorn carefully I think showing scorn goes beyond what I believe is proper in these situations.  I don't think anyone should disrespect another person regardless of agreement. You can disagree and still show respect. It's simple common courtesy. So I amend my response to say I have no problem with having an emoji to show dislike or disagreement.

  5. To get technical:

A griefer or bad faith player is a player in a multiplayer video game who deliberately irritates and harasses other players within the game (trolling), using aspects of the game in intended or unintended ways.[1] A griefer derives pleasure primarily or exclusively from the act of annoying other users, and as such is a particular nuisance in online gaming communities, since griefers often cannot be deterred by penalties related to in-game goals.[2] This creates a strong division between griefing and cheating, since cheating is done with intent of winning the game and thus is discouraged by in-game penalties.

    Using this definition:

    1. are you a player in an mpg -  yes, with the caveat that SL is not a game

    2. are you irritating the people visiting your so-called public space  - from the replies here I'd think yes, you are

    3. are you using the swarm/land as intended  - yes

    4. are you annoying your visitors  - most likely yes

    5. can you receive a penalty for such behavior - no

So while I believe you can face no penalty for such behavior I think this behavior fits quite nicely within this definition of griefing.

So what I'm wondering is this. Did you ask if it could be considered griefing because you wanted to be sure you wouldn't get some kind of penalty or because you were concerned that you might be annoying the very same people you invited into your land?

The survey results that MeshBodyAddicts released will probably give a better indicator of what people are using, but I own Freya, Isis, Physique, HG, TMP, and Lara. Lately, I have been using Lara. You just can't beat product accessibility when it comes to Lara, but I do like having options if I want to create different looks.

These are the results of a more current pole taken from a wider audience with more participants.

The laugh is for the the last sentence you wrote. It's laughing with and not at :)

I never use it for scorn either. There are times when a small part of a post makes me smile or laugh and I want to show it, but, because it's only a small part, I don't use the laugh which could be taken the wrong way. I can do it with the small part of your post because I'm also writing the explanation of it.

That's how I took it. You didn't need to explain. :)

  8. This won't help you now, but once we get BoM you will be able to bake the clothing layer onto the skin and prevent skin poke through from happening kind of what we used to do with glitch pants and flexi skirts. Hopefully we will still have one onion layer for clothing and you'd also want to apply the clothing to that onion layer so that the clothing didn't mold to the body like painted on fabric.

What, imo, is out of order, and shows the person's nature/character for what it really is, is laughing scornfully in someone's face. That's what the laugh does here when used in that way.

I agree and it's why I won't use the laugh that way.

Although I have used it that way once to the very person who does it the most. I figured turnabout is fair play.

Has your personal FB done a like or follow on one of the SL / Sansar related pages or groups?

I've never seen an SL or Sansar ad on my personal FB page.

I've never liked, followed or even searched for anything Linden Lab related with my personal FB account. They must be gathering information from another source to associate it with my account. I know anytime I google for anything shopping related similar items show up on my FB wall. It's insidious.

I do visit the Blueberry and Strawberry Singh FB pages frequently though, and I'm always logged into FB. So that could be it.

I've never seen one, and I have an account for my avatar (reluctantly).

This popped up on my wall this morning .. thought I'd share.

I see ones like this pop up for SL as well. By the way, these pop up on my personal FB account not one made for an avatar.

  13. I actually find negative responses beneficial. I have on more than one occasion been part of one of those I'm right, no I'm right debates. It was the negative responses, both as written and emojis,  of some of those not involved that made me take a second look and ask myself why the heck am I letting that person get under my skin. So, even negative responses can have positive outcomes.

To disdain something is to consider it to be unworthy of one's consideration. Ignoring things that are considered to be unworthy of consideration works very well, if you don't want to explain your reasoning. There is no need to shove it in people's faces without a word of explanation or reasoning.

I think disdain has a place in these forums specially when some continues to berate and argue past reason just so they can be right. I wouldn't respond with an emoji as a first or even second response to someone's post. But should the person be a jackass about it then I would like to have a way to show disdain even here in these forums.

Use your words, people. If you don't like or agree with something, explain why, in a rational and humane way. Otherwise, you're adding nothing to the conversation.

    One of my favorite idioms.

Sometimes you've responded giving your rational but the person continues to be a jerk about it and you get to a point where the better response would be to use an emoji rather than to keep responding with an explanation or counter argument. Every situation is different and as a consequence it would be good if we had better ways to respond.
